Hidden "Cheat Mode"
Duskers has a hidden "cheat mode" which is accessible by manually editing the config file (found at "%USERPROFILE%\Documents\My Games\Duskers\config.txt" on Windows) to include the line "AllowCheating=yes". Once this setting is set, you can press the C and X keys at the same time on either the system/galaxy map or during a mission to toggle cheats. This enables a few useful things:

  • Unlimited propulsion/jump fuel
  • Complete information on a derelict (infestation type, difficulty, etc)
  • Access to any ship upgrade and unlimited scrap
  • Install/create any drone upgrade during encounters
  • Mission status (including a timer, ship resources, and distance to closest unexplored derelict)
  • Enemies and their projectiles become visible in the overview
  • Derelicts can be commandeered at any time, regardless of enemies or radiation
  • A hidden "level editor" of sorts, accessible by pressing B and left/right shift at the same time inside a derelict. Seemingly used to make the tutorial level. I can't figure out how to use it.
  • A number of unique console commands

Here's a list of every cheat-specific console command, along with the help text:

General Commands

  • areasensorall - "turns on area sensors in every room"
  • openall - "opens all doors, regardless of power"
  • closeall - "closes all doors, regardless of power"
  • powerall, pa - "powers entire dungeon"
  • scanall, sa - "scans entire dungeon"
  • nr - "refreshed the navigation points"
  • tree - "write command tree to console"
  • reloadalias - "reload alias file"
  • wtf - "powers entire dungeon and turns on cheat mode"
  • breakrooms - "break everything. in every rooms."
  • listall - "lists all drone upgrades, regardless of if drone is."
  • radiate - "radiate the specified room"
  • killdoor - "kill a door with damager (like being chewed)"
  • restart_same - "restarts the game with the same upgrades"
  • dbf - "spawns in random room, unless room specified" (seemingly unused/test enemy, can't attack)
  • brute- "spawns in random room, unless room specified"
  • swarm - "spawns in random room, unless room specified"
  • bot - "spawns in random room, unless room specified"
  • slime - "spawns in random room, unless room specified"
  • static - "degausses" "buzz buzz"

Drone Commands

  • loot - "loot or swap upgrade with dead drone" (works on living drones)
  • list - "list installed upgrades of other drones"
  • discard - "discard upgrade item" "Discards the upgrade at the specified slot, leaving it on the ground" (the upgrade is removed and cannot be picked up again)
  • drop - "drop item"
  • die - "drone dies"
  • breakall - "breaks all upgrades on the drone"
  • damage - "does 50 damage to the drone"
  • (with the shield upgrade) breakshield - "Acts as if shield broken by attack"

Ooh, did you utilize this mode in today's Daily? Iirc the top score was 740 and you were the only one with 780.

I am pretty familiar with the way to cheat the game by editing save files like this, but I honestly haven't tried the one with the legit Cheat Mode like this.

Yeah, although that's not something I'd repeat or encourage. I was just excited to try it out and forgot that I could have tested in the tutorial level 😅.

Ahh lmao. I won't blame ya for the excitement that Cheat mode brings. But true, doing this on drone operator training/campaign mode seems much better to clear out the assumption where folks could advantage outta this to get suspiciously top spot in leaderboards. 😉

This should be helpful in order to test out some underutilised upgrades in specific scenarios, thanks

Hopefully they patch the leaderboards to block illegitimate scores.

don't forget to remove the line from the config; it influences fuel consumption even if you don't turn it on with c+x

Any idea where to find this on linux? I found a plain "config" file, but everything in it is in brackets so I'm not sure where exactly that line would fit
