both versions are the same.
the problem here is Dofus is label Free to Play when it's not.
yes there's a extremly limited demo like experience and it's free, but that isn't really what Free to Play means. (demo and F2P are two different things)
They have failed to update with the times as Free 2 Play games became more popular and ultimatly the main source of MMO's on the market.
They learned when it came to games like Wakfu or Dofus Touch which are true F2P titles under their production.
Which is kind of stupid since now they run 2 instances of Dofus but one is F2P and the other is P2P seperated by platform choice (and a few version updates)
no other games on the market take this limited route on content these days.
and if they do it's generally a seperate Demo experience for a Buy2Play game or something.
Dofus is one of the few games i've played that was this limited for a Free player, it's no surprise that people would be upset and feel tricked by the lack of explanation and inaccurate use of the F2P term.
And this is the kinda attitude that will help keep ppl from coming to dofus oh you dont like the game i like let me brush you off with an insult like a child would do. Also i see ppl talking about buying time with ingame currency but that is just a carrot on a stick no new player will be able to afford to buy sub with ingame currency unless they want their entire gameplay farming for 10 hours a day for a week sub and then with that week sub their whole time is agaiin just trying to farm for enough currency to buy another week instead of enjoying the game there is a reason that all the good reviews for this game so far have been by ppl that already play the game. I dont see this games population growing very much if any from coming to steam the pop. wil rise at first but not many ppl if any will stay after they find out they only can play 5% of the game without forking over a subscription.
The community alone is reason enough to play! The game promotes a huge amount of teamwork which leads to almost everyone being positive, and respectful, and wanting to help each other out.
That being said, the game itself is one of the best I've ever played. It fits perfectly with my ideal game. I know that's not the case for everyone, but it is for me. I would GLADLY pay for membership even if Ankama was the richest gaming company in the world because the game itself is incredible. Think about that before you write this game off completely. Give it a shot before you decide if it's the game for you and make your opinion of it by playing, not just reading the forums. As said above it is completely free to try!
the MMO market wouldn't have shifted to F2P if it didn't make them money, That's also the reason why a lot of them make the change. (more profitable now)
it's also not easy to obtain a subscription as a F2P with the current markets.
to buy a simple 1 week subscription which really isn't that much time to really experience much of the game.
1 week costs like 1100 ogrines which equals to about 900kk i beleive.
That's not a very easily achieved amount with the limitations F2P players have or how the markets are.
even as a subscriber it can be a difficult amount to obtain in the early levels.
