Feeding soldiers
I enjoyed the building part of this game. To see all the buildings and materials and such getting used up from the beginning to the end, I like those kinds of games.

However, I find it tedious to have to feed your troops, especially when they are holding ground on the map somewhere, and your villagers can't get queued up fast enough to deliver food to them.

Does anyone have any tips on this part of the game, about how to keep those soldiers alive and kicking? Especially to enter into battle with full HP instead of some minimum amount of HP because they are half-starved.

TIA!

That's when the strategy kicks in :) I would suggest you hold your troops close to your base at the start, and only produce troops when needed, otherwise they'll just sit around for quite some time and consume food..I don't know about the following since i've actually never tried doing it but.. you could potentially make another storage unit, like a 2nd city that produces food only? really not sure about it but..just a suggestion!

I had thought of that idea also, to extend out a farm or inn to near their new holding area. If there were no other tips or suggestions after a while, I guess that's about what I'll have to do. Thanks!

you can also try to make more serves and the troops who need food walk with them back to your base. that will go faster.

I was afraid of not having enough food. 100 of bread looks like a lot until 75 troops need to eat, and this doesn't including the civilians who are also needing to eat. I usually overbuild on soldiers (in every game). However, perhaps the key here is that I can queue up recruits until they are needed, then pump them out. As far as I have seen, recruits did not need to eat. Including to build the barracks up near the battlefield. Hmm, I'll give this a try too.

and if they are in the barrack the need 2 pices of food. and "soldiers" need only 1 to get fully hp back.

Ilya is correct. The best way to win almost any map in this game is to keep your troops close so that your slaves dont have to walk 10 miles to get to where the units are (because most of the times your base only has 1 or 2 entrences, so its easy to defend).

Most of the time you dont need more then 30-40 troops to defend against anything the AI throws at you, especially if you can use your bowman well (like say 10 spearman to defend against rushers and 20-30 bowman to shoot them down).
So you dont have to make 70 or 80 units to just let them stand there. I only make recruits to refill my 30-40 base army or when I decide I want to attack ( for instance when i have loads of weapons and armor stored in my barracks).

And concerning the 2nd storage unit. If you want to manage your city efficiently, most of the time you get about 2 or 3 storages, so that all your slaves dont clog up the 1st one. What i usually do is build wine farms a bit away from my core city and put a storage right in the middle of it and expand the farmland afterwards with grain framers. If my city gets large enough i will maybe demolish and reorder some parts of it and sometimes put a 3rd storage down (like for gold and iron production). Now depending on the tasks the slaves get, they will spread out allot more over your city instead of only clogging up your 1st storage.
But for the most part, its all in the lay-out of the land and the placement of buildings how well your slaves are able to move. But you can never prevent them from standing still from time to time waiting to get into a storage or getting out of one.

I hope this helps

i think this system is fairly good for balance, stopping massive deathball armies and such. the food system in fate of the dragon was better though
