Earth 2150 Trilogy

Have A problem, Post it here, I might be able to help
MAJOR UPDATE Found the problem responsible for most of the please reinstall game problems.

If you have ever installed The Earth Trilogy on your pc before steam this applies to you.
The Earth Trilogy fails to remove registry files that deal with the placement of the directory.
Use this guide to find them
Use regedit to examine the value of the following keys:

quote:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Topware\TheMoonProject\ BaseGame\FileSystem]
"OutputDir"="F:\Program Files\SSI\The Moon Project"
"DataPath"="F:\Program Files\SSI\The Moon Project/>;G:\game/>"

After you have found these keys right click and press Modify, copy paste the current directory for Earth/Moon/LostSouls and it should work.
For instance(S:\ProgramFiles\steamapps\common\Earth 2150 The Moon Project is what my Moon Project is under so you just add (S:\ProgramFiles\steamapps\common\Earth 2150 The Moon Project/>;F:\game/>) like so for the first entry and (S:\ProgramFiles\steamapps\common\Earth 2150 The Moon Project) for the second.

Other Problems

Basic problems include resolution problems which cause the game to crash at the research, and consturction center screens.
More Advanced problems would be the game crashing after creating a profile before the Skirmish, Multiplayer, or Campaign screens.
Lan Problems include not port forwarding and if your using hamachi I have a whole guide on how to use that, which is probably the best way to play a private match with your friends.

Fixes in the same order are

Resolution problems can be fixed by changing the resolution to 1680x1050x32 or lower, you can use OpenGL to if you get constant crashes like some users, although you will have to run the game at a lower resolution than 1680x1050x32.

The game crashing after creating a profile before the Skirmish, Multiplayer, or Campaign screens, is solved by turning off Data Execution Prevention (walkthrough in its ussage is here http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/Change-Data-Execution-Prevention-settings?SignedIn=1)

Finally running the multiplayer through tcp/directip means you will either have to port forward your router, or use hamachi. Port Forwarding is not reccomended because it is usually much harder to do for certain people, say you live in a dorm. Hamachi is a better option for private games and much easier to use. To use hamachi, download it from the internet create a profile and then create a network. As of now hamachi can only have 5 other computers on a network including the host machine. Whoever runs hosts the game just hosts the game through tcp/directip. From here is where most bugs are. Most people can see the game but can't join it but a few can't even see the game. To fix both issues use a program called forcebind ip gui which you can find on google. Once you have that program use it to force bind the unique ip that hamachi has given you to Earth/Moon/LostSouls's exe once done force bind ip gui should boot the game and you should be able to see the game and join it. The host does not need to use force bind ip gui.

Hopefully this can clear up some of the problems I keep see poping up.
Hope to see you in a game one day,

SuperBio out.

ammo is indeed need
but if you have problems with providing supplies, rearm your towers(and other buildings) with laser,ion(ED)\plasma(UC)\shock,sonic(LC faction) weapons. they don't require ammo.

upgrade them to an energy weapon(plasma,electrocannons/beam projectros,lasers) and if ur ammo giving vehicle is set to a ammo depo it should automatically fill it when its empty

Beam projectors are only in the Mod Operation X which can no longer be found online.

Hi All,
The game starts and runs ok until i press F1 or click on the tank to goto the weapons screen, the game locks up and crashes, Any ideas?
Jevuner Dec 2, 2013 @ 1:39pm
The only way is to change resolution, many widescreen resolutions cause this problem (game doesn't support them) unfortunatly there is no fix for it...
I have 1600x900 and play fine with 1400x900 with these black strips on screen sides.

Okay SuperBio, here's my issue: My game runs too fast, granted, everything runs perfectly, its just too fast. All sounds and music run at normal speed, just the menus move too fast, and the game speed seems like it is too fast in general. It's kind of hard to explain, it would be like hitting the + back in the day to speed the game up, but like 40 times. I played a full skirmish game, took about 5 minutes to research the entire UCS tech tree if that paints any picture for you.
-Things I have tried:
-Disabling all but 1 core on my processor (8 core 4.0 GHz)
-Using a program to slow my processor (Did not have any effect)
-Running as Admin and/or Compatibility mode with every selection available in all possible combinations
-Launching game and then setting Core affinity using Task Manager
-Inserting Bacon In to CD drive.

Have you looked at the game settings for game rate in the menu?

Also you can use cheater 1 and then enter gamerate # to set your frames per second that should force the game to slow. Won't work in multiplayer but it will in every other game mode.

Tried both, using the gamerate does not seem to have any effect at all, which is bizarre to me.

I currently crash at the F1 screen when in game. Everything else loads in just fine just, the moment when I press F1. (Research works, etc). I run my resolution at 1360x768.

This is the error I got.

Change the resolution to something like this 1440x900, 1360x760 still has the construction center crash bug.
@CaveatDraco Dec 22, 2013 @ 3:00pm
I'll give that a try.

I just bought and installed the trilogy, but now Lost Souls and The Moon Project are in German. Does anyone have the English language files? (or otherwise: how do I reinstall it in English?)
trainoflegos Dec 24, 2013 @ 2:08pm
