Would you recommend "Shantae" on the Game Boy Color???
I just finished HGH & have played the rest of the titles except this one. Does it stand the test of time? :D

It a very enjoyable game but it the hardest. You'll die many time.

It has its charm, but you have to understand that it is a GBC title (reccomend you play on GBA though). The game is hard in some annoying ways (not enough screen, enemies take too many hits, controls are a bit sluggish compared to the modern games, there is a lives system, etc.) It is not unmanagably hard, but it is harder than any other of the titles.

You can find the game on virtual console for Nintendo, or elsewhere on the internet if you hunt it down enough.

It contains much (perhaps a bit depressingly, too much) of the later games. If you really want to dwelve into the Shantae games, you can look it up.

Its really good. I just finished it for the first time the other day. I got it on the 3DS so I couldnt get the Tinkerbat dance. But other than that, its solid. Very hard compared to the later ones though. Except for the final boss. That was really easy.

The game's difficultly is kind of weird in that the dungeons are easier than traversing the overworld.

Again, most of the game's difficulty comes from technical limitations, unrefined controls and a few clumsiness in enemy design (like homing sonic screams from the naga).

The Tinkerbat dance really could have been fixed. It is only possible to get it with either the original cartridge or with an emulator.

very enjoyable game, yeah. I recommend it for sure.

I'd reccomend it. It's quite a hard game, but that's not necessarily a bad thing.
The core gameplay and the controls age fairly well and the writing is par for the later entries.

It's a pity that it's so hard to get a legit copy, so either you have to put up your house for collateral, pick it up on the 3DS virtual store, or as a last resort, emulate it.

I reccommend it. It is hard, but once you get the Harpy and the Harpy Talon, it's almost a whole different game. Good dungeons too, some really fun gimmicks and even some clever puzzles. Not getting much of that from HGH. Pirate's Curse managed to pull it off well. I guess magic belly dancing is taxing for Developer resources.

Not on the GBC but do play it on GBA to make use of the added features.

It's a good game but I don't recommend getting it for the GBC. It's extremley rare game, it would be cheaper to buy a 2ds and get it on the virtual console.

At least on 3DS VC one was really nice. Sure it would have been more frustrating if it didn't have vc save system added. but other than that it is great game still.

I mean if you really love Shantae games, go for it. It's got it's limitations being a GBC title, difficulty isn't quite the same and comes mostly from the system it was made for.

Also depends on how you intend to get your copy. Buying a physical cart these days is out of the question for most people, they're very rare and expensive.

Virtual Console on certain Nintendo Consoles is the way to go.

Honestly, probably not unless you are the kind of person who really enjoys retro gaming. The Gameboy / Gameboy Color has aged almost as bad as those old Tiger Electronics handhelds.
