Just do yourself a favor...
... And buy this classic NOW. I've been playing this on an arcade cabinet for many years and I'm not regret.

And you shouldn't only buy it because it's a good game, but the PC port is truly well made too :). I knew it from the second I launched the game, because the intro logos and options menu was looking crisp and in full resolution on my 2560x1600 :D. And then looking through the options, I knew they put effort into this.

Tell me I can get this to work with a dual shock controller without having to try to figure out another program to do it, and I will.

"Xbox360 controller, Keyboard and Mouse support."
It's stated specifically on the store page...

agreed, this game rocks. I've played it on Dreamcast but the PC version is a must! I'm so happy it came out on PC.

Damn. I missed that. How's the keyboard and mouse controls? Does it feel organic?

This will essentially convert your DS3 into an XBOX360 pad:

It's a lot better than motionhoy as it uses xbox drivers natively.

I would say that a keyboard (especially a mechanical), is easier and plays accturately/better than 360 or a PS3 controller. As Arcade joysticks are digital, and control joysticks aren't. And the Dpads are rather finicky.

(you ofcouse would not use a mouse however, just the keyboard),.

Finally played it. Man, nostalgia! This game is dope. Treasure have done a great job porting it! I am really ****ing excited for more Treasure games now. RSG would be grand.

Don't underestimate the DS3 dpad, it's much better than the 360 one.

Yea it's definitely better, but with my fat thumbs it still isn't nearly as accurate as I would want it to be :P. But then again I grew up playing C64/Amiga games with a Tac-2 Joystick (and it's basically an arcade joystick replica), so consider me biased :P.

But still with that said, I play this game with a controller anyway, just because it's more comfortable (but I actually use the analog stick). Would like to buy a proper arcade joystick however :)
