Full KB controls?
Will it have full KB controls?

If I decide to play with a KB alone, am I gonna be at an inherent disadvantage?

Thanks!

Why wouldn't it? I think Treasure would be shooting themselves in the foot if that wasn't possible.

Are you a Japanese shooter god? | | YES NO | | You'll be OK. You will die.

It's possible to play shmups on KB. It's not 'better' or 'worse' than playing on an arcade stick or playing on a controller, play with what makes you most comfortable. One of the best Dodonpachi players plays on KB exclusively. Same goes for Super Meat Boy and I Wanna Be The Boshy - there are top tier controller and KB players for the hardest games around.

I'm guessing that mouse controls would be pretty much impossible given the ship has a determined speed, but full keyboard support would be perfectly serviceable. The game only used 3 buttons.

This game originally had digital controls. You'll be 100% fine with a keyboard. It's down to personal choice what works best for you (arcade stick, analog / digital controller, keyboard).

You could, but it plays much better with a gamepad or arcade stick. You'll also get less hand cramps.

They have said it will have "Keyboard and Mouse Supprt" (the misspelling is actually theirs). Not exactly sure what the mouse part will result in though.

the mouse moves the ship like a cursor

If it's possible to move the ship with the mouse, hopefully it will be a separate leaderboard, as it will lead to an incredibly different style of play (that is interesting in its own right)

Doesn't really work very well if the ship has a fixed speed.

I can't think of any reason why using a keyboard would put you at a disadvantage here, unless maybe we're talking NKRO issues (ie keyboards that have trouble recognizing certain combinations of keys as being pressed together) - but even those you can usually work around by spreading your buttons a bit.

You mean ghosting? Exactly how many keys need to be pressed at once?

Hmm.. Two buttons for movement, one held for shooting one pressed for polarity change or unleashing the homing lasers. I think it'd be okay on most keyboards if you can remap keys to avoid ghosting.

Using an arcade stick is the best. If you really want to get competetive, you'll need a pad at minimum.
