LadyBirdJohnsonAsshole, maybe you can read this an actually take in the message here.
Well said, Wardiaper.
+1 Rep for the both of you
Using modern automatic weapons to fight mythical beasts and dragons in a voxel landscape? Doesn't sound unoriginal to me!
You really don't know this game came out 2-3 years ago do you? No this isn't better then any early access game because most of them are pretty much Guranteed to get better. This ......10-20% chance devs will bother updating it ever.
So you paid 10 extra bucks for challenge that you can just get a mod for Minecraft that does that for free? Seem logical.
There are games that are detrimental to the whole industry. Back in the day a whole bunch of these games caused the video game crash of 1983. This is a fine example of one such game, cloning and shovelware ( or a combination of both like this ) should never be defended.
Explain why CMZ is detrimentle to the gaming industry, Yes there are some crappy games out there there always will be. This game is not one of them. If it was I wouldn't of bought it on two platforms.
I think maybe he means people who defend it and say its good. its not a good game, its fundementally a bad game but your allowed to enjoy it, everyone has guilty pleasures.
For me its dead island when i 1st got it, i enjoy playing it but its just a pretty poorly made game
People that like a game would say "oh I enjoyed it". People that Know how to review a game will say"Oh I enjoyed it but that does not excuse such and such."
Do I think people will enjoy castleminerZ? Yes cause they don't know anything about game design or care about games being "orginal". Doesn't excuse reviewers that know about game mecanhics, level design, programing, etc, from saying this is a quick cash grab title to leech off the success of minecraft.
"How can anyone possibly defend this game?"
Not everyone is gifted with Intelligence, I met some incredible retarded people after I left school & started to work & those are all over the planet, this is the only explanation I have so far.
To the poeple who compared this to movies, if the developers would take this much from Lord Of the Rings, they would be sued by WB within the hour.
There is nothing wrong in having an opinion on something, but that doesn't necessarily mean its good or bad. To decide that you weight facts against each other.
Facts on this game are:
-Its not new, it was released 2011.
-The PC port doesnt feature much improvement on the original game, despite being in development for cirka 6 months now.
-Xbox price: 1 $
-Steam price: 9 euros (without the present 15% discount)
-The game did fairly well on the xbox. (It must be pointed out that it didn't have to compete against minecraft at the time of release, since it was not out on xbox)
My 2 cents:
From a buisness standpoint, this game was a genius idea back in 2011, since it made much more money back, than actual idea went into it, the same way call of duty sells every year. Seeing the success of minecraft and dayz, we are getting flooded by a metric tonn of these kinda games, most of them are subpar compared to the originals. From a gamers standpoint, this is a bit worrying, since it can decrease the overall quality of games (just look at the coverbased shooters gears of war insipred).
Shut up, your flaming, really hard. If you dont have anything nice to say, take your not so nice words somewhere else.
And to quote about every single person on this thread(minus a few) Minecraft isn't original, so keep that in mind. Yes, I'm serious. Notch admitted he got the idea off another game. To also make a second point, when this released in 2011, Minecraft was still rising to power, so it's not like this game just hopped on and starting feeding off of Minecraft sales, it rose to success with Minecraft.
Can CastleMinerZ take inspiration from Minecraft? Certainly, there plenty of game developers who have taken inspiration from Notch period. But the fact you're debating that this title actually rose alongside Minecraft is completely untrue. Minecraft was already extremely popular in 2011, and even then around 2010 was when Minecraft's popularity started to skyrocket uncontrollably. The reason I state this is because in the time frame and what system it was placed under it could quite easily be considered a method of trying to cash in on the gold mine that is Minecraft, especially when it was clearly not released on Xbox 360 at the time.
Am I saying all of this to spite the developers/game? No. I can quite easily say that if the game developers wished it, they could easily take this game and push it forward to new boundaries.
Will I be buying it in the near future? More than likely not, because right now there is nothing special about it that I cannot get from another title with added risk/reward. (Rust for example)
You calling him out as a flamer is worthless because he holds very valid points, especially to the fact that with just pure videos of gameplay can show that there isn't much to offer from this game (yet -which I say with a very thin, very easily breakable twig-). The worst factor is that this isn't even classified as an Early Access title, therefore implying that this game is actually complete rendering many of my statements stating that they could actually back this title, completely false. Where it going by that standard.
