stuck in the chimney/works area

i fell down the trash chute, i made it up the chimney to talk to the foreman, who tells me i need to use fire to unclog the works to get stuff turned back on. i go left past the foreman, flip the switch, and fall down. at this point i start going in circles. i can climb back up the chimney and speak to the foreman again but i don't know what to do next. i've also met the guy who wants his toys back but i don't know where to find those either...

i have the following ammo: thud rounds, bubble gun, grapple.

thanks for any help! i feel stupid... (which is what usually happens to me in adventure games xD)

I'm also stuck there, with the same ammo!! Could you please tell me what @glassbottommeg said to you that helped you so much? I tried restarting on a new save, but the only thing I could think to do was buy the torch ammo from the alley cats, but didn't have a big enough bag to hold all the coins needed, and when I bought the bigger bag, found that there was no more money aboveground.
Please give me the hint you got! Pretty please, with a fedora on top!

Oh, I've already figured it out, thanks. I had a brain fart and didn't realize I could shoot the grapple at the wall to move through a certain strong current blocking a certain switch. Thanks though!

NOW I'm stuck in Old World after getting the knockbacks and speaking with the mice. Idk how to get back up to Remington.

i had trouble there too. You can fire the knockbacks down to propel yourself upward.

heh i also got stuck with the current/grapple thing because somehow i'd gotten into the habit of letting go of the trigger as soon asthe grapple connects! which is fine for short jumps, etc, but not the current. *forehead slap*
