Stuck In Old Town

I was really enjoying the game to this point, but now I'm running about blindly in the dark. The torch rounds aren't helping me find anything (the knockback rounds and mice, namely), the only video walkthrough I can find offers no explanations for what the guy is doing (and he seemed even more lost most of the time), and it seems the place I'm trying to get to has no grapple point. Is there a proper walkthrough of this game anywhere, or at least somebody who can tell me where I need to go?

You need to tend lower and to the left. You're probably missing a spot down there where you need to grapple up and over to the left.
