Stonehearth

Stonehearth

What Happened to Development on this Game?
As I said in a previous discussion, I havn't played the game in over a year so I really have not kept up with the news. All I heard is that Riot stopped Radiant from developing this game and I am very confused. My biggest question of all is why would Riot stopped Stonehearth developing? If someone can fill me in on this information I would like to know. This game is great and i'd be really sad to see this game die.

It is a small niche, not profitable. They were adding more money than receiving back.
(Probably)

well, like brunosupremo said, riot isnt a charity, they cant fund a project that most likely doesnt make money back in future forever so thats why they most likely stopped funding it.

Thank you, makes a lot of more sense now. I'm still a bit upset about this but maybe if some kind of miracle happens or either the modding community takes off from where the developers left off the game could be potentionally revived.

yeah, its sad that they had to cut out some promised features but if you look at the bigger picture, in my opinion, its okey. the game is great for what it is right now and mods add already a lot to the gameplay. ofcourse there will be people who disagree with me but well....meh.

there will be bugfixes and performance adjustments until december though. hope they can get it right in time.

Riot likely bought them for some tech patent related to fighting games.
Its quite sad since the game finally had some promise having more or less fixed the build system.

Personally i think the general game direction was to PG13 so it would never make money.
managament not really appealing to most kids.
And minecraft not really appealing to most adults.

And the management does not really have scale or deepth enough for it to be entertaining.
Its a shame since i would love a dwarf fortress/rimworld with a bit of scaleability as pretty as stoneheart.

the game was kickstarted. if they didn't have enough money for what they promised, it's on them. if they wasted some of that money, it's on them. they're not a charity but neither are peoples who bought the game.

never said that radiant isnt to blame. they mismanaged their money + asked for far too few in the first place. (even if they hadnt mismanaged, 1 programmers annual salary is 80k, you can do the math how far 750k will get you, a game being kickstarted means nothing)

if people buy EA games they pay for the current state of the game, not for what it eventually will be. theres always a risk it wont work out so its the peoples fault for being too loosely with their money, speaking of charity, really.

if people dont get suspicios when a company with zero experience in game development asks for (initially) 120kish to make a game from scratch with own engine and everything, honestly, its absolutely on them. they better should have done their research.
