A New Adventure Awaits Query

So I've completed a town and gotten to the full township status, and now the game wants me to take 3 hearthlings and 10 items and start a new town in a new game (quest marker titled "A New Adventure Awaits!" which is why I named it that). I want to know if it gives you all the default templates as well as 5 fresh hearthlings in addition to the 10 items and 3 hearthlings you choose respectively.
Appologies if this has been answered already, I couldn't find a post.

I've embarked on my new adventure with the 3 hearthlings but its still in my old town. not sure what i've done wrong

I figured it out a while ago. Try creating a new game, and if the hearthling preset confirmed then a button will appear for it, and the fact that they're still in your old town shouldn't matter. In fact, it should be a good thing; You still have them there to work for you AND as a preset to start new games with.
