How Do I Get Stone?

I know I get stone from stones laying around, but those are now gone or too far away to be realistic. So I went to the nearest grey mountain, which was quite far. Now that I am there, I've mined out 30x5x5 blocks and only get 1 hunk of stone every 30 or so blocks that I mine. Is that normal? Why am I not getting more stone?

Mining dirt, sand or rock gives you a CHANCE of getting said materials. So mining rock does not give you 1 stone for each block mined. This is how it works in Stonehearth.

You can increase the chance of getting stone, clay and metals by selecting the banner of Strenght (that you choose at the start of the game, 3 minutes of gameplay) that gives you a 50% more Ore, Stone and Clay. But you will still not get a 1to1 ratio of loot, but it is better then nothing.
