You mean the seed boxes? Place them somewhere, click on them, and in their menu (bottom left) you will find a button to activated it and add the seed type to the farm menu. The box will disappear, you only need to do this once per seed type, so repeated boxes can be used as simple decorations later
I did play with Northern Alliance in the Archipelago biome, and have been able to obtain some seed boxes for watermelon, and cactus plants, but still never got wheat.
Good Luck!
Loose seeds are not farmable crops. They have to be planted and harvested by hand individuality. Seeds bought from traders will always be these type of seeds. The seed boxes are earned by trader quests. The type where you get a pop up asking for a random number of made items, in exchange for a random number of other items, with seed boxes being a rare option.
Guess northern alliance is not made for farming but for trapping/hunting and getting food that way...as of now i just hope a trader will pass by who will offer me seed boxes.
By the way.....archipelago biome? that's a mod?
The archipelago is modded.
