Chicken/Sheep?

I'm not able to find something on this specfically but how do you make the shepherd breed more chickens/sheep? I have two of each but not getting more and dont want to kill the 2 i have since they produce eggs/wool.

generally, they just appear.... even if you dont have any, the shepherd goes and finds some to bring back.
Or,.. at least I thought so?

check to make sure the ranch area is large enough.

only make 10x10 fields for animals. i made a 20x20 and it still only held 2 sheep. basically each plot will only hold two animals.

just make another field for the animals you plan to kill that way you dont accedentually kill the wrong animals eather.

ok 10x10 will do. i made a 20x20 and only had 2 as you mentioned, ill do more 10x10's i think that answers my question.

Larger fields do get more eventually, I've currently got about 8 in one of my fields but it takes time for them to be collected/appear (and the shepherd has to have time to do it).

Sheeps needs more space, you will need fields that are like 40x40 to have a lot in it. The animal selection for the field shows the animals limit. Chicken and rabbits doesn't require so much space for the same amount of animals, and rabbbits reproduce faster.

Great, thanks for the additional feedback. bummer that it takes longer but I'll see about the sheep. however I'm over 25 citizens and noticed things are clunky and i have more sheep wool than I need

I have 40x40 size before but only 2 were showing up and since it's apparently slow, I wasn't going to wait hours when I can just make a bunch of 10x10 and they fill pretty fast, however, now im going to test this next time im in game
