When you have the mining option or stockpile I think and you can click it on and cancel it.

Umm.... I'm sorry. Still confused.

Go to the mining/harvest tab, have nothing selected and click the current mining zone, a popup will come up allowing you to remove it.

Thanks, that finally made sense to me. ... There really needs to be an obvious way to do that.

It's accessed from the "Designated zone" tool. Once you have it selected just left-click your yellow zone, then a box with Remove or Suspend Mining will appear, hit remove to remove the task.

It takes some getting used to.

1. Select the mining tool
2. Deselect the mining tool by right clicking
3. Now you can select the mining zone you want to remove

There's unforunately no undo or anything, you can only remove the whole zone.
