Fun game until they make you play as an evil character
There is nothing fun about playing Abby at any point in the game. It's frustrating to be forced to play as someone who is not the main character and who is evil to their core.

How tf is that not absolutely evil...
well it's not like Abby is known as The Aborter, killing pregnant ladies for the fun of it lol I think to her in the heat of the moment it was vengeance for Mel. but also she didn't do it.

buddy not everyone reads PS5 monthly
Ellie is more evil than Abby in this game, and Abby has more fun guns and encounters gameplay-wise as well.

Ellie's stealth sections are superior, though

Somebody may decide to buy the game after 2 years. Should we keep quiet until then ? lol People afraid of spoilers don't read here.

Definitely should stay away from community discussions if afraid of spoilers...

The game tries really hard to manipulate you into liking Abby over Ellie.

The problem is that the writer is a moron with zero talent for storytelling.

Everything about Abby is centered around framing her as a good person. From helping her saint of a father save animals, to saving children, to rescuing companions, even down to petting/playing with dogs. She even has a fear of heights (just in case you weren't empathizing with her enough)

On the flip side Ellie is made out to be a murderous revenge focused killer who pretty much does nothing but kill people, and kill dogs. (in one case you are forced to kill the very same dog you pet/play with as Abby in an unavoidable qte cutscene)

However the writing is so lazy and sloppy that it has the opposite effect for anyone who can recognize their attempts to manipulate. Especially considering the other elements they threw in that don't fit and actually make Abby seem like a bad person.

I mean think about it, she brutally tortures and kills a man without the slightest bit of hesitation, right after he saved her life, all because (in her mind) this man needlessly murdered her perfect saint of a father. However her father was basically the one who caused his own death. If the doctors in that room had backed off and let Joel take Ellie, they would still be alive, and would still be able to create a cure if Ellie returned or they found another person who was immune.

Then she abandons two children, one of them severely injured, without hesitation. Only to return later because she's suddenly feeling guilty and wants to do some good.

Having Joel save her life was one of the dumbest things the writer could have done, next to making her father the man who lunged at Joel with a scalpel and caused him to open fire in self defense. There are so many other characters that could have been her father, so many better ways they could have had her find Joel and enact her revenge. They could have had Ellie find Joel afterward, instead of trying to make Abby seem like an even better person by stupidly letting Ellie and Tommy live. (While Ellie was screaming that she would kill them)

Truly the only reason to play the game is for the superb combat and stealth mechanics.

second this, personally i think the pacing (transition?) was abit off?

in the end, every one in that story is just fighting for what's right from their point of view (abby's frens for abby's cause, ellie's side for revenge etc).

there is no black or white, just different shades of grey

There are very few things that make me call someone evil but torturing someone for self gratification is one.

Maybe the man who killed her own father and robbed humanity of a cure deserved it, don’t you think ? BTW Joel killed at least 30 people in that hospital before that.
There is a good reason for all of these, Abby's father caused his own death 100%. I mean you're kind of asking for it if you threaten a man with a gun using a scalpel, and with a ♥♥♥♥ reason against Joel too when he has his "daughter figure" lying there on an operating table ready to be killed for what COULD be a cure that would probably be impossible to mass produce and wouldn't even work in a world like that. And the "at least 30 people" were all people who tried to kill him to keep Ellie from getting killed over something that COULD have been a cure. No matter how you look at it, the Fireflies were wrong in this situation if it had been handled differently they wouldn't have been

So if you get attacked and try to defend yourself and get killed, it's totally your fault. The attacker is innocent!

the only reason she didn't was because of Lev, also "in the heat of the moment" no matter how hot headed you are if this has already happened to your friend then you should especially know how terrible it is, it wasn't even revenge towards ellie it was to a pregnant lady she'd never seen before, I don't see how you can see that as justified.

in what part was Jerry defending himself? He aimed the scalpel at Joel and said he won't let her take her. So he is saying to get to Ellie you have to go through him first. He could have simply just stepped back and said to Joel that he can just take her, and the situation would've been different. Also in Joels defense he already knew they wanted to kill Ellie for the cure so if he didn't kill the fireflies it would put both him and Ellie at high risk for them to come after Joel and Ellie and kill them both and try to do the cure over again.

Yes, Jerry is defending the humanity. He's a hero. Joel is a villain who murders him for selfish reasons. Murders the last chance for humanity.
