Trying to force the player to develop sympathy for the gorilla in the sequel by sabotaging Ellie's personality and Joel's character was narrative stupidity built as a result of weak story telling and promoting a current day message culminating in a limp wrist "ending the cycle of bloodshed" cliche' ".
Nobody got angry at Joel for saving Ellie, we just understand that it was nothing more than a selfish decision on his part and a situation where he's the only one that wins anything.
If anything it's the people who can't understand why other characters would be pissed at Joel that lack empathy and comprehension skills.
As for Ellie's personality, I don't think anyone remains the same as their 14 year old self. Joel's character made sense, he was getting old and the new civilized life made him more trusting/friendly which ended up with him dead. He was already getting soft in part 1 because of Ellie.
>he's the only one that wins anything
You know that Ellie is alive because of him right?
Ah yes you see the morale option here is to let the committee dissect your daughter's brain on a hunch for the good of the people!
Yeah, remember how soft he was becoming when he gunned down an entire hospital to save his daughter?
Whose going to tell him Ellie isnt his daughter lol. Bro didnt play the game
The amount of times I killed Abby just to see her die was so satisfying. I just can’t understand how anyone playing through the first game could root for Abby. F***ing hate her so much and no amount of back story feel good sh*t made me feel any differently at the end.
The same ellie that wanted to give her life for a chance at a cure, the ellie that got angry at him for doing it? Ok.
It's literally an apocalypse situation and Ellie could've helped to fix it all. Yes, that literally is the good moral choice.
I understand why he saved her, I would've done the same. But you can't expect characters who couldn't care less about Ellie to forgive Joel for making that decision. From their POV he simply murdered their family/friends and ruined a shot at making progress towards a cure on top of it.
You're asking me if I remember how the guy that started the game as someone who treated her as nothing more than a delivery package ended up risking his life in a pretty dumb fight to save her? Yeah, I do.
With every sentence and point you make, all you're showing is that you have no real arguments . Hell you're showing that you can't even comprehend a story as basic as TLOU. Unlucky for you.
The 1st game is very simplistic. 2nd is much MUCH better.
personally I love Ellie more. but naughty dog had a hard job for making Abby come to life and they did a great job
