Ellie vs Abby
Ellie for me. The best character. I didn't like Abby. The story in The Last of Us 2 disappointed me at the end

Glad to play Abby most the time. I hate what Ellie became for. A brainless killer.

2 sides of the same coin. Both Ellie and Abby are reflections of each other
But struck by grief making matters worse
Abby was more focused on the right targets, Ellie sort of of lost it more

Abby for me. More personal growth and interesting arc. She changed. She tried to let go of her hatred and to redeem herself. Helping the kids. Ellie not as much. Ellie had a second chance at a good life but was selfish in the end, even though she spared Abby.
I did not like the end either. Why would Tommy even make Ellie feel guilty like that. No man would do that to someone with a family to take care of. Did not feel realistic. Would been much better if it had ended with Dina, JJ and the house on the hill. No need to make it a sad story again.. Been there, done that.

Abby is more interesting as a character because it explores the theme of “can a person who does bad things be a good person” which ironically is what Joel’s character explores as well.
Abby wouldn't have killed more than Joel, who deserves it somehow. But Ellie walks over dead bodies, completely soulless in order to reach her final goal. About the end we can't discuss because of spoilers. Beside this, Abby indeed is more the interesting character.

What I liked about Abby’s story is that she became incredibly regretful about all the seraphites she killed as she spent more time with Lev and learning about their culture. That entire war between WLF and Seraphites was the result of misunderstandings and ignorance.

I feel like Ellie never got this same level of enlightenment until the end of the game when she finally had a chance to fight Abby. There were definitely moments in the game where Ellie was clearly disturbed by what she had been doing and she even broke down in that one scene after whacking that one girl to death. The difference though is Ellie was trying to live in Joel’s shoes and do what she thought he’d do

it is definitely implied Abby would have went on a rampage like Ellie did if she didn't coincidentally run into Joel because of plot device swarm of infected. Owen shows Abby Jackson and it's clear he doesn't want to go to war with these people, but it doesn't deter Abby who says they need to start picking them off and torture them for information.
Really ? I must have missed that in the beginning of the gameplay. My attention span is not that long anymore. But that makes sense, because how should she have indentify Joel ?

ellie is a better character but Abby is a better person (doesn't say a lot tho, she's still a terrible person)
F**K abby, absolutely hate that c**t and hate devs that force us to play her, too bad can't shoot everyone in the head in their base!

Me too. Abby is a sadistic pervert. That she changes, is a good thing, but that does not make her a good (or the better) character. Everything what she did before was wrong. Not only did she torture Joel to death like a pervert, because she dragged her friends into the revenge plot, she is responsible for the deaths of all her friends (except Leah who was killed by the Seraphites). That she changes, does not heal that. Even though she (finally) took responsibility for the siblings, she remained an off-putting character to me throughout the game.

The revenge for her father's death is also fundamentally wrong. In the flashback at the Whyoming Museum, we learn what kind of organization the Fireflies really is. Her father was part of it, has threatened Joel with a scalpel and tried to murder a sedated child.

I don't like what the Neil Druckmann have done with the characters. He made Ellie into a vengeful killing machine and Abby into a saint so that we would feel sorry for her and forgive her for what she did. But even so, I remain loyal to Ellie and I can't forgive Abby

I've stopped playing after the incident in the hut with Joel and Abby... I don't know if I want to continue the game. All that talk that Ellie is a bad character... ♥♥♥♥ that. She has every right to go nuts like that. Sorry no matter what you're saying I personally want to see that ♥♥♥♥♥ Abby dead... but after reading that I'm actually forced to play her... i probably never will continue that game. I don't like being forced into something... Sadly this is one of the first games I actually regret paying money for it.
The devs are total psychos forcing players to actually play someone as nasty as Abby. I simply raise my middlefinger to the devs. They can shove that game up their arses.
