Does anyone else kind of like Abby?
I'm not someone who's into ''woke'' games and characters, but honestly, this is a good game. Almost everyone seems to hate Abby, but no matter how you feel about her, it’s hard not to feel some sympathy. I was upset she killed Joel too, but it makes sense when you realize he was the one who killed her dad. I also liked her parts of the game because it shows a different perspective. She kind of becomes this anti-hero, and the dynamic between her and Owen keeps things fresh, especially with the flashbacks.

Ironic how this ranty misogynistic side are all saying 'It's unrealistic how she could bulk up in the apocalypse' and then turn right around and expect her to have access to eyeliner or cosmetics for some weird reason (What good would they do in aiding your survival..? Seems like a complete waste of time in this setting)

If you're going to take the stance of 'realism' in this argument then atleast be consistent about it.

I've tried to see it from her point of view but no matter what to me Abby is a complete psychopath undeserving of forgiveness or redemption and the game failed to make me think otherwise.

She wants to kill the guy that killed her father fine, but why do it in such a sadistic way after he just saved her life? And in front of his loved one who is begging and pleading for mercy.

She sleeps with a man knowing he's already in a relationship and is expecting a baby with her friend.

Almost beats a pregnant lady to death. She really needed someone to intervene in order to not kill an already downed pregnant woman...

I just cannot sympathize with a character like that.

Ellie straight up murdered her Pregnant friend, she didn't just 'beat her up'.
Abby atleast showed some restraint in not stooping to Ellie's level.
A win for her in my book.

Ellie is a psychopath more than anything - she went to avenge Joel whilst killing hundreds of men, women and animals in the process and without ever asking why. Even when she failed and could've walked away with a partner and baby, she threw everything away on the ridiculous demands of another character only to have one last pop which she failed once again.

The writers pretty much butchered every character possible I know, but Ellie is much worse than she's given credit for.

Well, of course Abby is more likeable than Ellie despite they both done bad things.
This is done in purpose because Neil Druckmann really disliked how Bruce Straley fixed The Last of Us aka "Mankind"

This is from a person who hated Last of Us 2.
Abby is strong and care about her friends. I actually like her better than every single characters in the game. Although she cheated Mel by ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Owen and spared Ellie twice.

Ellie on the other hand she is just so selfish and so unreasonable in this game. All she done was just for herself. Even avenging Joel was for her own sake.
Like that bigot sandwiches old man. He did not say anything wrong because kids were really there and no one want more gay kids in a post apocalypse world. Yet he apologized and Ellie refused to accept it is being really really rude.
Joel saved Ellie's life from the brain surgery that probably serves no purpose but she just hate Joel for it because Joel lied? It just makes no sense.
In the first game ending, Ellie was supposed to somewhat get Joel wasn't telling the truth by her facial expression. They retconed it with this game and Part 1.

So... you're just gonna ignore the fact that Owen with Mel attacked Ellie? She killed them in self-defense.
All they had to do was to point on the map where Abby was.

Maybe if they didn't try to stop her

. Even when she failed

Failed? She was just about to kill Abby, then flashbacks with Joel appeared.
If it wasn't for the bad writing, she would've gotten the revenge.

Not as much as Ellie and Joel, and maybe even Lev, but yeah I definitely came around to her over my first playhrough and by the end felt compassion for her. It's a large part of why I consider the game to be a masterpiece, purely by the fact they were able to turn a feeling of hatred towards a character into a feeling of compassion.

I wanted Ellie to just let her go and I'm glad she did as she would have felt irredeemable otherwise.

Congratulations, you figured out the entire messaging and theme of the game that everyone is genuinely awful and is the villain in someone else's story; and that an eye for an eye makes the world go blind.

Abby just came around first (granted, thanks to Lev's intervention mostly...) and Ellie finally got the same introspection in Santa Barbara.

I've never played it yet.
I don't need to goon StellarBlade. I hear a lot of 'GenshinImpact crowd' are angry.

But the controversy keeps bumping it into my notifications updates.

If this is truly what you still believe at the end of the day then it isn't the story and narrative game for you.

A villain is a villain
A hero is a hero
An anti hero is an anti hero

And I really haven't "figured" anything new. You people call Ellie a psychopath because she killed a pregnant woman, yet she acted in self-defense.

Yeah no kidding.. :steamfacepalm:
Why are you telling on yourself like this.

Uhuh.
Kind of glossing over and omitting the part where she went and wholesale slaughtered dozens of people, broke into someone else's home, threatened each of them with murder after killing all their friends.....but that's all ok and your calling it 'self defence' when these two struggle free and try to fight back to save their own lives from this psychopath.

We're literally engaging in the 'Villain in someone else's story' message that you keep wanting to ignore and pretend doesn't exist.
You have a very 'black and white' view of the world it sounds like, and you don't seem capable of understanding nuance or context.

What is it with that "black and white" lmao
Seems like you really like that phrase
