I'm not Pre-purchasing the game

Purely so I don't receive the "early in-game" items. I don't want the game dumbed down and made easier, these things are obtained through actual progress in game.
I'll end up buying it on release date or the day after, as to skip getting that tied in with my account.
Why people would see early in-game items as an incentive to pre-purchase this, is beyond me.

That’s my plan also for the Steam version. I preordered the PlayStation version like 4 years ago and it had the same pre-order bonuses. While it may have been slightly cool starting with a slightly upgraded pistol, I agree it’s not worth it. Might wait and get it from a key reseller for a bigger discount.

Just so you know, this is optional. In TLOU - Part 1, you can choose if you want to use your pre-order bonus when starting a new game. I have declined it on every playthrough so far.

Agreed. In-game bonus items (especially if you can get them during normal gameplay) isn’t enough to justify a pre-order. However, I pre-ordered Part 1 for the collector’s “Firefly Edition”. This includes physical products with the game, so I considered it worthwhile. I hope they do a similar collector’s edition for Part 2.

Correct me if im wrong but I thought i remember seeing a apply pre purchase bonuses in game toggle. So you can turn off if you want?
