Game stuck on black screen after launch
[HELP] Game stuck on black screen after launch – last log line is "Renderer initialized"

Hi everyone,

I'm having an issue when trying to launch the game – it starts but only shows a black screen and doesn't go any further.
The game doesn't crash, it just stays on the black screen indefinitely.

Here’s the last part of my log before it stops progressing:

-[ NVIDIA Driver Info ]---------------------------------------------- Version : 576.2 Branch : r575_92 --------------------------------------------------------------------- 02:05:20:546 (00026484) > [NxApp] Creating window... 02:05:20:550 (00026480) > [GameWindow] UpdateState bVisible true 02:05:20:581 (00026484) > [NxApp] Window created. 02:05:20:581 (00026484) > [NxApp] Initializing swapchain... 02:05:20:581 (00020016) > [SwapChain] Creating... 02:05:20:581 (00020016) > [NxSwapChainImpl] Swapchain native backbuffer (windows) resolution: 1280x720 02:05:20:582 (00020016) > [Upscaler] ConvertScreenToRenderRes: wxh = 1280x720 | min = 640x360 | max = 1280x720 02:05:20:597 (00020016) > [DXGI] Created swapchain. 02:05:21:161 (00020016) > [DXGI] Set-up exclusive fullscreen 02:05:21:161 (00020016) > [NxDXGI] Creating exclusive fullscreen swapchain with refresh rate 60 02:05:21:851 (00020016) > [SwapChain] Gamma correction is enabled. 02:05:21:851 (00020016) > [SwapChain] Successfully created. 02:05:21:851 (00020016) > [NxSwapChainImpl] Swapchain native backbuffer (windows) resolution: 1280x720 02:05:21:851 (00020016) > [Upscaler] ConvertScreenToRenderRes: wxh = 1280x720 | min = 640x360 | max = 1280x720 02:05:21:851 (00026484) > [NxApp] Swapchain initialized 02:05:21:851 (00026484) > [NxApp] Initializing renderer... 02:05:21:853 (00026484) > [NxApp] Renderer initialized

After that, nothing else happens – just a black screen.

Things I've tried so far:
  • Updating GPU drivers
  • Verifying game files via Steam
  • Running the game as administrator
  • Running in windowed and compatibility mode

System Info:
GPU: NVIDIA RTX 4060TI
Processator: AMD Ryzen 7 5700 X3D
RAM: 32gb
Windows 11

Any help would be greatly appreciated! 🙏

Try the NEW hotfix drivers, I know they specifically mention 50 series in the fixes but those are also likely to apply to 40 series too.

I did the installation and the problem persists.

Did you DDU your drivers first? If not, try that.

You could download older drivers but you run the risk of having black screen issues from the driver itself.

Try running the game on low settings and see if it launches, it may be taking a while to boot for other reasons too ( shaders? )

Have you closed any apps that you do not need? Discord etc?

Also, if you're running Discord, have you disabled the ingame overlay? Steam overlay disabled? These can cause issues too.

I've already tried all of that, unfortunately, and the issue still persists.
I’ve lowered the graphics settings, waited for shaders to load (black screen), closed unnecessary apps like Discord, and even disabled all overlays (including Steam and Discord), but the game still won’t launch. :(

try borderless windowed fullscreen mode, not the exclusive fullscreen.

I’ve already tried every display mode, including borderless windowed and exclusive fullscreen.
I even lowered the resolution all the way down to 720p, but nothing worked.
All I get is a black screen, and the game won’t respond at all — I can’t even close it with the X button, I have to force it to stop through Steam. :(
The only thing I can suggest then for now..

Right click the game > properties > beta tab, select "previous_version'

It will roll the game back to the 1.1 patch and not the current 1.2 patch.

iirc there is a setting in windows 11 to optimize windowed game performance somethings. you tried to change that? it's in the settings app in system > display > graphics settings.

That was actually a great idea, I just tried rolling back to the 1.1 patch via the beta tab — unfortunately, the issue still persists 😔

I went ahead and tested the Windows 11 setting under System > Display > Graphics settings for optimizing windowed game performance — but sadly, the black screen problem is still there...
You've exhausted all options that i can think of except a full reinstall.

So uninstall the game and do a full clean reinstall, that's the only other thing you can do now.

If you have ReBar enabled in your bios, try disabling it.

That's all I can think of.

I’ve already done a full clean reinstall — and I also tried disabling ReBar in the BIOS, but unfortunately, still no luck…

I’ve been at this for 5 hours now, and I haven’t even managed to get into the game yet 😂

Im literally going through as many steps as I can think of and what I'd do, reinstall is an option and *can* fix the issue too.

It hasnt this time but still, its something else op has at least tried now.
