Did you DDU your drivers first? If not, try that.
Try running the game on low settings and see if it launches, it may be taking a while to boot for other reasons too ( shaders? )
Have you closed any apps that you do not need? Discord etc?
Also, if you're running Discord, have you disabled the ingame overlay? Steam overlay disabled? These can cause issues too.
I’ve lowered the graphics settings, waited for shaders to load (black screen), closed unnecessary apps like Discord, and even disabled all overlays (including Steam and Discord), but the game still won’t launch. :(
I’ve already tried every display mode, including borderless windowed and exclusive fullscreen.
I even lowered the resolution all the way down to 720p, but nothing worked.
All I get is a black screen, and the game won’t respond at all — I can’t even close it with the X button, I have to force it to stop through Steam. :(
Right click the game > properties > beta tab, select "previous_version'
It will roll the game back to the 1.1 patch and not the current 1.2 patch.
That was actually a great idea, I just tried rolling back to the 1.1 patch via the beta tab — unfortunately, the issue still persists 😔
I went ahead and tested the Windows 11 setting under System > Display > Graphics settings for optimizing windowed game performance — but sadly, the black screen problem is still there...
So uninstall the game and do a full clean reinstall, that's the only other thing you can do now.
If you have ReBar enabled in your bios, try disabling it.
That's all I can think of.
I’ve already done a full clean reinstall — and I also tried disabling ReBar in the BIOS, but unfortunately, still no luck…
I’ve been at this for 5 hours now, and I haven’t even managed to get into the game yet 😂
no reinstall needed... i got the same black screen problem when starting Horizon forbidden west after updating GeForce game ready driver, all i had to do was restart my computer...
driver: 576.02
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 Ti
Im literally going through as many steps as I can think of and what I'd do, reinstall is an option and *can* fix the issue too.
It hasnt this time but still, its something else op has at least tried now.
