her faction is not nearly strapped enough to send a pregnant lady such as herself out into the field. I say this as a fan of the game, it is an example of poor writing that requires multiple characters to act in a way that you wouldn't expect and them all to temporarily have there iq hit room temperature levels.

Well to be honest imagine the storyline if they DIDN’T though, Mel wouldn’t have enough screentime. I think they felt forced to add her into this section otherwise she wouldn’t get much to do until the Aquarium where she is slayed by Ellie

Like any of us actually know how we'd react in a post apocalypse world, where humans, despite being on the brink of extinction, still manage to fight amongst ourselves instead of uniting against the one true common enemy.

And as others have mentioned, desperate times require desperate measures, and how we view this now as gamers in no way indicates how we'd view this if we were actually there, in the ♥♥♥♥, trying to survive the apocalypse.

None of us can truly say what we'd actually do in Mel's situation because none of us have ever experienced anything even remotely close to surviving in a fungal zombie apocalypse, while pregnant. It's easy to say, "Well I'd blah-blah-blah-blah!" but you don't really know what you'd do in a situation you've never experienced even slightly,

Yes, it was silly. I get that she needs to get around but sitting in the back of a truck is ridiculous. She would've been in the truck with bullet proof vests over her while wearing a helmet, in real life. Non negotiable.

Dina didn’t know she was pregnant, she didn’t clue in until they were already deep into their journey and when she started to see signs she still wasn’t sure. Mel was a heavily pregnant lady jumbling around in a truck bed in a warzone and then she did beam balancing. Although the WLF were surprised the Scars have breached so close to The Stadium. I’ve watched some reactions to the game and probably 95% of gamers I’ve seen had a Wth? reaction to Mel coming along.

Mel’s death was on Owen, trying to take Ellie’s gun was extremely stupid. Also telling Ellie where Abby was wouldn’t have even been a bad thing not only can Abby handle herself but she’s on the Scar island aka finding her would be really difficult.

And Ellie was horrified when she realized Mel was pregnant, and the dog tried to maul her lmao if they wanted you to hate Ellie when she realized Mel was pregnant she’d like do a Fortnite emote over her corpse. When Ellie tells Abby that Dina’s pregnant Abby says “Good”, in stark contrast, and yes Abby in the heat of the moment probably thought this was justified vengeance for Mel + she stopped herself but she still said that: this is important context for people that think the game is trying to make Abby seem angelic and Ellie a devil.

To play devil’s advocate the area they got attacked was suppose to be clear because it’s so close to their main base The Stadium, and there was a lot of wounded at their 2nd base. Mel says she pushed for this because she didn’t want to be dead weight and hates the idea of people out there needing help.

From the writer’s perspective they might have felt compelled to give Mel more screentime otherwise the next time you’d see her she’d have a couple quick lines of dialogue and then die.

But audiences roll their eyes at writer’s trying to make super pregnant ladies Girl Bosses doing stunts, most of the players even the people that really liked TLOU2 aren’t too thrilled by it
