Game always crashes during cinematic at beginning of "The Shortcut" chapter (Abby Day 2 Seattle)

I've tried reloading earlier saves, different resolutions, etc. I even tried making a different window active while the chapter is loading so the game would be forced into a "paused" state at the very beginning, in the hopes that this would let me skip the cinematic, all to no avail.

I'm on a 4090 with a 14900k, and I'm guessing that this is a driver issue since I'm still on Nvidia driver 566.36. I won't update past that since every single driver they've released since then has been well known to be an unmitigated dumpster fire that can cause problems far worse than not being able to complete this game.

If anyone has a good workaround, I'm all ears.

This keeps happening to me dude
i spammed alt + enter non stop during the cutscene and it didnt crash but the moment you gain control again to start playing Abby and lev talk for 5 seconds and the game crash every single time
and im in the same driver as you are so maybe its the driver

edit: actually im on driver 566.14

i set all to very low, windowed and it keeps crashing
and i tried restarting the chapter and the game keeps crashing in the cutscene again

Hey i stopped using dlss and put DLAA and i have been playing for 30 minutes with no crashes
maybe you should try that

Thanks, Freddy. That is a setting I haven't tried. Will experiment with it tonight.

I tried toggling DLSS/DLAA, but that didn't work for me. It crashed in exactly the same place.

I know you said you don't want to update to a newer driver but, I had the same issue and fixed it by doing just that. DDUd the old ones (566.36), installed new (572.83) and so far no issues. Using an RTX 2070 Super though. It could've been the shaders since they recompile after installing new drivers but it now runs great.

This is happening to me too unfortunately.

Edit: Dropping to the lowest possible settings and disabling DLSS + Reflex did nothing, but dropping my game to the lowest resolution it could go (800x600) and changing to DLAA at the same time worked for some reason. I paused the game as soon as the cutscene loaded and skipped it, then moved around a little when I got control again and reverted my settings and its working fine now.

This is happening for me after Ellie enters the Hospital and barricades a door, I crash, I even reinstalled and is still happening, will try the lowest and turn everything off

Still won't work for me unfortunately, any other tips that could work?

Sadly it is not working for me either, it is a shame, and the game being broken like this is just a waste of time and money
