Bloaters question
Why does the bloater always go for the mouth rip apart when killing someone. Is there more to it?

In the HBO series it never bit someone either, it killed purely by melee and never tried to infect, maybe the cordyceps infection of a bloater has evolved a different goal then the other infected, maybe it's goal is to kill the strongest to protect the other infected.

It's hard to conceive of a fungus being smarter than it's host, yet look what they can do to insects. Hopefully they'll never be able to adapt to our body temps, because I really have much better plans than going out that way. LOL

bloaters are exclusively seen (aside from maaaybe the tlou2 arcade) in environments where cordyceps has flourished and achieved what appears to be environmental equilibrium

makes sense that the fungus would want to eliminate threats rather than spread to new hosts under these constraints
