This game is probably not going to get any good mods.
Now I would love to be proven wrong about this but respectfully as much as I hate to say it this game isn't going to get any Resident Evil game sort of mods where you have full on Difficulty / Cut content swaps (Like berserk or Valkyrie) or any full on model swaps (Rem swap Ada which still amazes me how people got her to glow on RE engine) or even the Mr.X mods too.

I was hoping that this time around ND would have implemented some modding support into the game but now that there's none and neither is there a workshop or any actual model replacement mods on nexus. There was someone who modded TLOU1 and somewhat modded TLOU2 when it was still on console but it's locked behind a paywall of course.

There are good mods for Part 1 but they are mostly hidden behind a paywall. I would not wonder if it's the same with part 2.
the mod loader is on nexusmods. character and texture swaps are rather "easy". joel is already modded in. new characters, gameplay and level changing mods are rather hard tho. models need to prepared. and the scripting language of the game is not easy to read and redo. and there are no tools to recompile levels fully functional. there are some open repos on github, but it's a bit of work. and speclizer is busy with his lou1 fedra mod.

I'd love a mod that removes the corny smoke trails off gunfire....it's especially egregious with the MPX.
"or any actual model replacement mods on nexus"

Huh? Play as Joel..

The game has just been released, give it time

"full on model swaps" like that's not the most basic of mods.

Can you link some?
Let me clarify. Please read before commenting. The types of model replacements I'm talking about are the one's where you make entirely different changes to the models as in an entirely different character.

Let's say for example Leon from RE2 over Joel/Tommy. Usually it would take much less amount of time for modders to figure out a way to make full on character swaps. Silent Hill 2 Remake for example got Leon and Ada in on the first few days.

I'm pretty sure we're still using the same Engine that Part 1 Remaster has and Part 1 never received any unique character replacement mods. So I'm starting to doubt that Part 2 will receive any good mods apart from the things we have right now which are just hair swaps/texture swaps or things that already are in the game.
Or you could just play resident evil?

i don't think that fits the vibe of the game. i would not do that. some clothes are cool. fun and memes are nice. but... universe crossover is kinda not it. just play the other game, tbh.

and just cause you mentioned it... SH2R uses unreal engine. a well understood engine. technicalities. you can just rig characters to an unreal skeleton and they may just work. naughty dog's engine is a lil more complex to get characters to look good and work nicely. you could maybe inject them into no return where you don't need full facial features, but you may not wanna do that in the main game. could look jank af. not cool.

No, i am not supporting this kind os piracy. If you like to support people who want to earn money with naughty dogs assets, it's all yours to search for them.

what piracy? just link their patreons. ez. wtf...
Telling me to play the other game is a pretty braindead reply. There's a reason why I want to play modded TLOU2. I really enjoy the combat, but I would prefer playing as someone else and being able to have different weapons than the ones in the game as of right now as I think that most of them look pretty ugly. I could care less if it doesn't fit with the characters in the game as I'm not playing the game for the story.

Yes, it is piracy. Using Naughty Dog’s assets and slapping a paywall on them isn’t “modding,” it’s monetizing stolen content and acting like it's your work. Doesn’t matter if it’s on Patreon or taped to a bathroom wall, it’s still unauthorized use of copyrighted materia. And the fact that you're still desperately asking for links, even knowing it crosses both legal and moral lines, just screams that you're a spineless consumer drone with zero integrity (Honestly, I didn’t expect much from the users in this forum anyway.) So no, I’m not helping you.

I also don’t have the interest, to debate ethics with someone who clearly traded theirs for a download link. If you're that desperate, go dig through the internet yourself.
