This game has more horror than RE games
All woke nonsense aside I genuinely think this is one of the scariest games out there not only does it deal with traumatic heavy topics but also realistic depiction of murder and human nature. But what stood out for me was that one segment where Ellie needs to check out what happened in that hospital basement 😵 in this game you never feel safe and everyone could betray you and leave you for dead, no RE game comes even close to this level of dread, maybe RE7 but still this game is dark.

Yes, the basement, once you fall down into it is marvellous chaos

Resident Evil was never about drama like what TLOU focuses on, that ♥♥♥♥'s not horror, it's just an interactable soap opera.
It's not soap opera when the game gives me the option to go to a bank filled with infected
The revenge story is at the heart of it, it's what motivates most of them

This game has a level of savagery that I really wasn't expecting and certainly not in as much detail! I LOVE IT!
RE games are hero action games. capcom takes no risk with these characters. last of us give you the idea that the characters aren't invincible and can die.
Honestly as much as I loathe this game, this is at least partly true.

RE has kind've abandoned it's spooky ways as of late

RE8 wasn't spooky at all, so they didn't balance that all too well did they.
RE was never spooky lol....it was about not having the ammo to face the enemies in any given area....also an unfair comparison since TloU was never in a low res pixlated format whereas RE was. Both great franchises for what they have to offer.
Both Resident Evil and The Last of Us have action/survival horror elements.

Ellie needs to "check out what happened in that hospital basement"?You mean when she chases Nora down there? I wouldn't say she needed to check out what happened...

Also if Ellie going down there did it for you just wait until the second half of the game... You'll get pretty familiar with the hospital basement.
RE games seem to have an emphasis on the dramatic where TLOU puts exposure on the visceral. For a game made to show off the prowess of a graphics engine, as a developmental decision it makes sense.
This game has some real evil. RE generally has Mr. X.

RE was spooky back in the PS1 days
