Is it me or do melee weapons seem super rare?

I've had maybe three melee weapons so far after quite a while of playtime. The times I have them I might see a few more in the area too which doesn't do me in any good since I can only carry one. But most of the time it seems I go for long stretches with nothing. Anybody else?

I'm playing on moderate difficulty BTW.

but yes, melee weapons are quite rare (and fragile).

It' s crafting bottles that are super rare for me.

They are quite frequent once you progress furter where you have to fight more human enemies. At least there is more of them compared to everything else on survivor difficulty.

I'd suggest when you find melee weapon not often enough, use it until one last bar of durability, and then craft melee upgrade (u must unlock it in the proper skill tree) - it will extend the durability to the maximus, cause it 'heals' the weapon.
