Makes it seem like Joel doesn't die early in the game and a large part of it you play as his murderer.

And even though he dies, he's still featured many times later in the game
The third game can still do the same

Yeah and in TLOU 1 they never once said you would play as Ellie because they wanted it to be a shock to the player. It's not false marketing it's called not spoiling the damn game.
