In my humble opinion, yes it was!
Nell Druckmann needed Bruce Straley to keep him in check
& without him.
We saw what really happened with the last of us 2.
We also saw how uncharted 4 turned out
the better game would be Amy Hennig's the real uncharted 4!

In my opinion this game is a testimony to how not to waste a huge budget, on a terrible triple AAA games in this day & age.

Joel deserved better we deserved better.

You should just move on. The game is almost 5 years old now. They're not going to change a 5-year-old video game. A story is not bad simply because you don't like what happens. Stuff that people don't like what happens happens all the time.

if you read some behind the scenes and interviews you'll find that even troy baker - the performance actor of joel - wanted him dead for what he did. it was postponed from part 1, but eventually happened in part 2. it was unavoidable and planned, kinda. no complaints to have there.

This game is a "Butch fantasy" very far off from what would happen in reality. But thats what games are for to tell ridiculous stories to captivate its audience.

Now as for their new intergalactic Butch in space fantasy game. Maybe Joel will beat her with a golf club and take over the space ship. But very doubtful that will happen unless Joel trans to a female.

I would not recommend supporting a Neil Druckmann game ever again!

Glad everyone spoiled me before I was able to play the game.
I don't have any issues with his death though. However I just reached Abby chapters and stopped playing. Maybe I'll feel better about it tomorrow or game will change my mind. But whatever, I'll still enjoy replaying Ellie chapters on harder difficulties. And don't mind playing games for gameplay.

I was spoiled by the leaks back in the day

but for the first time in my life
i was happy with getting spoiled because, it made me never buy the game.
& i never will.
it annoys me to much with the way the story went.
