story telling happened. Even in the first game he admits he's done some really nefarious things. The idea that would catch up to him isn't exactly a wild concept.

I think they call that "subverting expectations" lmfao. Yeah it's a tough pill to swallow, Joel was and is the og kicka** angry dad. The game is good regardless. keep playing, it'll grow on you im sure.

It's pretty early on when Ellie asks him if he's ever killed any innocent people (right after they get ambushed and crash the truck)
He mutters but never denies his involvement after admitting he's done similar things as the guys that ambushed them.

Tess even says as much to Joel in the cutscene in the first game at the capitol city building, "our luck had to run out sooner or later"

Story layout and ending made this game "bad". Everything else about the game is top tier from the graphics, combat to the game play and UI.

You find out later why she killed joel, but its too late to where you already hate the character and don't care. It doesn't help with the ending of the game being terrible. Like you already made us hate the character no amount of sob story or making me try and sympathize with the character will make me like her. I understand the lesson and story they are telling but god it was a major step down from the first game imo.

Finish or watch part 1 and you will understand part 2 better. Part 1 is hands down a masterpiece.

Joel was actually a selfish prick for most of the game but did eventually redeem himself by starting to care about Ellie and then saving her from a bunch of serial killers that slaughter children. He didn't have to do that. He could have just walked away, ignoring the fact that they were going to slice her up. But he decided to save her, and every future victim they would have had.

But I agree with you, a little bit of regret to bring my daughter to this world, it is nothing but unhappiness and unable to see the future clearly. I could easily go and hide as pretending playing game to do self-paralysis or just simply lay down and watch some meaningless movies, and I know that she cannot face the future world like I do, which I think I cannot help her at all.
