TLOU2 made me like TLOU1 less. And I loved TLOU1.
MASSIVE SPOILER ALERT!!!

I'm not here to yell "woke" or vent homophobia or xenophobia (I'm a leftist gay latino, doesn't mean I must like this game). TLOU2 has absurd plot holes and was clearly made to annoy some people.
- I think many already expected Joel's death, the problem is the WAY he dies. In TLOU1 he didn't get fooled by a bandit pretending to need help, now he gives his name and shows his home to strange armed teenagers;
- you can't expect most people to like Abby after she kills Joel and doesn't show remorse the whole game. Normal people don't feel comfortable after revenge. And people must play her, the most intense parts are hers not Ellie's;
- BTW, how can Abby eat 5000 calories per day and do 5 hours of exercising per day to cultivate a body like that in the Apocalypse? Her farm has meat? Oh, so other survivors don't complain that she eats for 3 people... Doesn't make sense. And I'm not saying women like her don't exist, every time someone says characters like the cop Estel from Streets of Rage 4 or the fighter Marisa from Street Fighter 6 don't exist, I show them a picture of the real life fighter Gabi Garcia. The difference is that they're not in the Apocalypse, where everyone is often hungry;
- in the end, Ellie loses 2 fingers and less than 1 minute later she just let Abby go, ignoring the intense physical and emotional pain she caused and the fact she could come back for her any time. I know the message is that revenge is not worth it, but in that context even the most balanced people wouldn't let go. They could make Ellie give up on revenge and go away in a different scene, maybe both forced to help eachother to survive a horde of clickers would be a good way to come to such conclusion;
- I know the idea is showing both sides of a coin, but stories like this only work when both sides are introduced in the same story, not one in an entire saga and the other at a sequel, few will care about the new one.

I could say more, but the text is long enough. It's not a good game, it's bad taste, bad writing and really arrogant to call everyone who disliked it bigot.

I completely agree. The second game is incredibly poorly written. And the ultra-left agenda is just the lesser evil in this story.

Or maybe the rightwing is just simply lost in the wilderness. The concept of pursuit of happiness is utterly lost to you folks.
I'm a leftist, doesn't mean I must like the game. If you read my post, you'd see that none of my reasons to despise TLOU2 is about "wokeness".

You summed it up well.
I was skeptical at first about trying part 2. In the end I bought it 2 days back and even though I do LOVE th graphics, gameplay and the atmosphere I haven't found a single new character besides Jesse that I like, so I refunded the game after an hour or so.

Ellie to me seems really, really boring as a character in the 2nd game, she speaks in a single tone, acts like a ♥♥♥♥♥ to basically anyone she meets which in turn made me really not enjoy playing as her and her dialogues.

Dina....I'll probably get ♥♥♥♥ on for this but she to me feels like she shouldn't even be in the game. She is there only for the reason to sort of recreate the dynamic duo that Joel and Ellie was, only it's done very poorly and I just didn't really care for her as I did for the duo in the 1st game.

Abby - good lord, one thing is that she goes on a 5 year long vendetta across the whole USA, and when Owen proves a valid point that it's suicide mission / bad idea to go into Jackson looking for Joel and that it's not worth it, she goes the classic generic bland strong hurdy durdy female character - ♥♥♥♥ you all, I don't need anyone, I'll do it myself.

And the Joel thing - yeah. I don't mind he died, it's as you said HOW he died. People saying he gone soft? Maybe if he would stay in Jackson permanently, but it's known and seen that he was constantly running out on patrols and he even had some journeys with Ellie between the 2 games. Telling everything about yourself and where you live to a group of random and well armed strangers is just ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ stupid and so un-joel like it's funny.

As much I do love the gameplay and as much as I did try to overlook the absolutely horrendous writing of story and characters, I eventually hit a boiling point and gave up.

Graphics, atmosphere and gameplay are literally 10/10
The rest is like 0/10 - 3/10 for me.
