TLOU 2 makes my PC go slow
the game runs great, high settings dlss quality and FG FSR3, running at 180fps smooth, everything works till i reach the 30 min game time, it freezes, then works again, then goes at literally 1fps, it gets unplayable, i decide to close the game, takes like 2 minutes to close, i can literally still play after i press quit, then randomly closes, just to see my PC now runs super laggy, youtube works bad, opening tabs, closing tabs, takes secs, tihs never happened, not even with TLOU part 1, it runs pòorly until i restart, then works great until i play TLOU 2 another 30 minutes

My specs are:
Ryzen 5 5600x
RTX 3060Ti
16GB RAM
1TB nvme

It disables the Sony overlay and stopped the freezing for me. It's a common bug with Windows 11 24H2 and the PS Overlay,

Same exact issue. Glad am not alone. Will try the launch command mentioned by MancSoulja and see if that helps :)

Thank you, this helped my issue. The game now closes correctly when I shut it down. =)
if you restart your PC and its fine after that then it looks like a memory leak.
if you have malwarebytes installed disable it before launching the game

This has been an issue with previous Sony games, I had the same issue with Horizon ZD Remastered a few months ago.

Okay, sooo I also noticed that Malwarebytes runs EXTREMELY high when I play this game... What's going on with Malwarebytes and TLOFP2?!

I also have experienced EXACTLY this issue... it causes my entire system to basically run super laggy and choppy. I have to reset to get it to be stable again.

AMD Ryzen 3970x (32 Core)
RTX 4090
124 gb of ram

If you are playing less than 4K you will most likely have issues. As crazy as that sounds with your 32 core CPU. It actually benches slower than my 8 core 9900K for gaming.

I also would not use my 9900K for anything greater than a 4070 for that series, nor would I use it for anything greater than a 5070. Its just too slow for them.

There could be any number of reasons for your PC to be choppy, but that is what stands out to me right away for your system while playing.

If your system is not responsive after game closes. Thats another issue all together.

Sometimes programs just conflict with games. It happens. But for AV its usually the scanning that hinders performance or it makes the files slower to access from the scans.

As mentioned above. Just disable it or make exceptions to your game folder.
