Stuttering/lag issues
My specs are as follows:

Microsoft Windows 11 Home
Version 10.0.26100 Build 26100
Processor AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D
AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX
64gb RAM

I have updated my graphics (including the 25.3.2 adrenalin update), tweaked almost every graphical/display setting in the game (and launcher) and for the life of me, I can't get it to stop stuttering and lagging. The fps just plummets in both cutscenes and gameplay when I even attempt to rotate the camera or move. I have tried all the usual stuff like verify the files, check my updates, resets, hardware updates - nothing has worked. I can get it to behave when I set the graphics preset to low - some combination of settings, I'm not sure, but even at a stretch it still stutters and lags. Everyone is reporting smooth sailing but I honestly can't get this to work properly. Been waiting on this game for years and it was a birthday present from my gf - please help me

p.s. happy to listen to any suggestions or provide any info you need to troubleshoot

For stutters/freezing/crashing, try replacing the directstorage dlls. Worked for me. Solved some race conditions when loading textures.

DLSS Swapper, can also upgrade your DLSS/FSR/Xess dlls leading to better performance for upscaling

could you please elaborate on how to replace those dlls? i downloaded the file u provided but i don't have a clue on how to install that

Most dlls you can just drag into the same folder as the .exe and it'll call it.

The game precompiles shaders on the fly outside of the area you load into when first loading a save. Hence you have stutter, this can only be resolved by devs letting you precompile all shaders ahead of time.

I can confirm that turning off Dynamic Resolution Scaling resolved the stuttering issues on my end.

Hello,

Did you try Exclusive Fullscreen mode, Frame Generation OFF, Vsync On, Refresh Rate 60hz, Dynamic Resolution Scaling also 60? Your setup is more than capable of running without stutttering.

Btw, the game can reset all the settings to default out of nowhere, so you should check in game settings every time you open the game!

I hope they fix it, the game is great!

Thanks man that fix on my lenovo legion 7 pro laptop!!!
For me the problem appear After about 30 minutes. The game Is Always perfect ,It runs fast with 5900x 32GB and 4090 rtx.
But as i said ,After 30.min It start to FPS drops to 0 . If i wait 20 30.sec It restart good . But After some minute again FPS go to 0 . I feel , but i could be wrong ,that he continue to use all the Memory.
The solution for me Is to restart PC .

I tried a few ways to improve performance, but none of them worked. I tested disabling Windows Game Mode, worked for me. My game was averaging 11 FPS and it was terrible, but now it’s better. My graphics card is an RX 570.

This fixed my horrible stuttering. Not a single hiccup after enabling the mysteriously called "transition anti-stutter mode"
It appears devs could have known about the issue? Why not add an easy way to fix it?
Bookmarking for later, thanks

Does this fix the stutter due to shader loads? I doubt it.

I tried it, doesn't work
The only way this works without issue right now is 60fps
They haven't ported it well
Just play it on your tv or wait until they fix it

"transition anti-stutter mode" = Lol at this name.
Also TLOU2 doesn't stutter at all anyway.
