The Last of Us™ Part II Remastered

Stuttering/lag issues
My specs are as follows:

Microsoft Windows 11 Home
Version 10.0.26100 Build 26100
Processor AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D
AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX
64gb RAM

I have updated my graphics (including the 25.3.2 adrenalin update), tweaked almost every graphical/display setting in the game (and launcher) and for the life of me, I can't get it to stop stuttering and lagging. The fps just plummets in both cutscenes and gameplay when I even attempt to rotate the camera or move. I have tried all the usual stuff like verify the files, check my updates, resets, hardware updates - nothing has worked. I can get it to behave when I set the graphics preset to low - some combination of settings, I'm not sure, but even at a stretch it still stutters and lags. Everyone is reporting smooth sailing but I honestly can't get this to work properly. Been waiting on this game for years and it was a birthday present from my gf - please help me

p.s. happy to listen to any suggestions or provide any info you need to troubleshoot

what's your screen refresh? have you tried vsync or framerate cap? anything that matches half or third of it. the engine likes that. predictable frame timing.

Hi there

My refresh is 165hz
I have tried messing with cap but it doesn't seem to make any difference
Same with vsync on and off

Hello,

Did you try Exclusive Fullscreen mode, Frame Generation OFF, Vsync On, Refresh Rate 60hz, Dynamic Resolution Scaling also 60? Your setup is more than capable of running without stutttering.

Btw, the game can reset all the settings to default out of nowhere, so you should check in game settings every time you open the game!

I hope they fix it, the game is great!

Can confirm, not a camera or accessibility issue

PJ - you ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ legend

exclusive fullscreen
frame gen on
upscale on and set to 165
vsync off

it just took a few option swapping and boom
still a few tiny frame rate drops but they are barely noticeable
so far so good on the intro, will report back if any issues

I’m Gonna fix your problem, roll back your driver to 24.12.1.. thank me later. I have same specs and the new drivers cause me stutters, both 25.3.1 and the optional 25.3.2 cause issues.

For stutters/freezing/crashing, try replacing the directstorage dlls. Worked for me. Solved some race conditions when loading textures.

https://www.nexusmods.com/Core/Libs/Common/Widgets/DownloadPopUp?id=21&game_id=7521

or

https://www.nuget.org/packages/Microsoft.Direct3D.DirectStorage

DLSS Swapper, can also upgrade your DLSS/FSR/Xess dlls leading to better performance for upscaling

Cryiox Apr 5 @ 10:11am
7900 XTX, 5800X3D, Adrenalin 25.3.2, W11 24H2

I also modded in OptiScaler/Nukems for a functional FSR3 FG implementation.

I also use AFMF on top.

Game runs like a dream at 1440p240, XeSS Native (XeSS 2.01 dll) at ~200-240W.

No stutters, smooth as butter.
Turn off dynamic resolution scaling, worked for me :)
