Are you serious? The first game was all about the zombies. Yes its about Joel and Ellie's journey but their journey was to take a single immune girl across the zombie infected wasteland to find doctors that could use her to make a cure. That was literally the whole point. Save the world from the zombie infection.
This game is nothing like that. This game is just revenge porn like "I spit on your grave" or "The last house on the left" but ten times worse.
Yeah, I am serious. The nature of the threat is not very relevant to the story. You can replace it with some other world ending disaster and have almost the exact same story told. You just need a looming threat killing people, after having destroyed civilization. The strongest point would be that it's not even a zombie infection, it's a fungus. The main thing that connects it to zombies, is infecting people through bite, cause we are just so familiar with the concept. That's not even how the world ended in the game, I think it was through infected food supplies and exposure to spores.
