Need help regarding Graphics settings
Hello folks! I would like to ask for graphics settings which will make the game look the best in visual quality. I will be playing with native 1366*768, I can't use larger monitor or resolution due to my vision issue. It would be very helpful if you could also explain a little about the things as I don't know that much about the new features like DLSS, FSR or XeSS thingy. Also why the anti-aliasing option gets turned off if I select any of these as upscale method and what is this 'Screen space sub surface scattering'?
Looking forward to insightful replies which will increase my understanding :happy_cats:

DLSS and FSR and XeSS all have their own TAA solutions. That's why the old TAA gets replaced with the upscaler's TAA, and screen space sub-surface scattering is to simulate light passing through character's skins for a more realistic appearance of skin rendering. Now, I'm going to assume your PC isn't really good judging by the low resolution you're playing. By that assumption, I'd recommend looking up Digital Foundry on YouTube and seeing their recent video on The Last of Us Part II, skipping to the end and using the PS4 settings, then scale down, or up from there using his optimised settings.

I think I have said why I play at lower resolution which is native resolution of my monitor. I have a 13th gen i7 with 4070 Super, ram memory is 16 gb ddr5
May I ask what happens to your vision if you would play on 1920x1080?

Unable to focus, like I miss some parts of the screen, i.e when playing games with radar or minimap

narrow peripheral vision? okay. with this specs you should be able to max it out in native resolution. you don't need any resolution scaling or upscaling in this case. you could try dlaa, but it ends shimmering on my setup. so taa might just be enough.

So I don't need to use the DLSS/FSR/XeSS feature right? Only high quality of Anti-Aliasing is needed? Therefore, should I take away from this conversation that DLSS/FSR/XeSS is less good/much less good than Anti-Aliasing when it comes to visual quality?
Btw, if I may ask, what are the graphics settings you are using?

i'm running automatic for my setup. which is medium / custom. in 1080p native. your setup should handle that aswell. you should customize anyway for what you want it to look like and perform. some settings have a decent visual or image stability impact. :)

I see. Btw could you tell me why nowadays modern games don't have the glossy visuals even if we max the reflections, bloom etc? Is it due to graphics generation being more realistic or something else?

that's called physically based rendering. back in the days it was kinda hard to portay wet surfaces. simple reflections. these days it's alot better. looks more realistic. tlou does pretty well in this regard. it is a grungy world. not a specular shiny graphics thing like older titles.
