Frankly they do so much flashbacks and talking about past events and most of the first games characters become irrelevant early and it becomes all about abby and Ellie, both have simple stories and motivations so apart from how the world got ruined you would understand the rest with a little research.

I dont think so and I played both multiple times 100%. But u ll miss the connection for the ppl u play and meet. And I think thats the very strong point of part 2.

If u can, go for the 1 part. There are some good key sellers with good prices on both titles.

Part 1 is a masterpiece, you really should try it before playing this to get 100% involved with the lore.

i would rather watch all cutscenes and dialogue from the first game than watching the series. the series is not bad but the game is far better in telling that story.

some scenes from the series were so bad it took me out, her acting skills are often really atrocious

You have to play The Day Before, then The Last of Us Part I, and then The Last of Us Part II to get the full story.

I actually disagree. I waited to watch the show until I finally played the game on PC, so I played the game and then watched the show back to back, no space between.

I felt the show did several things better, especially Bill and Frank.

I wept like a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ child at the end of that episode and I am a 42 year old man. The game version of Bill was forgettable. The TV show version was among the most touching love stories I have ever watched. Probably my second favourite romantic relationship in media.
