Linux Mint Instant Crash

Silently laughing at everyone who said that Day 1 would be better because Nixxes made this port. Looks like there was zero testing for Linux, so I guess I'll wait. I managed to 100% TLOU Pt I on my Linux machine, can't wait to do that here.

I first got an error message that I wasn't on a new enough version of Windows. I forced compatibility to Proton Experimental and it came up with the settings menu. Turned off any fancy settings like DLSS and hit play, instant crashes.

For me, the game still crashes under Nobara 41, but there was still no vulcan pre-shaders to download. I don't know when they will come, but I still hope tonight. :)

Worth mentioning GPU & driver version, though the “old Windows” message is a bit odd. I'd be poking at that via protontricks & winecfg, at least initially.

(Given the Steam Deck “verified” status, shouldn't be any problems on AMD GPUs with recent Mesa.)

I had the same problem where it just instant crashes when pressing play from the launcher on Linux.

Try adding SteamDeck=1 %command% to your launch options.
(Even on PC)

Updated my drivers and restarted, no change. I'll try the SteamDeck thing now, just wasn't sure that'd make a bunch of assumptions about CPU and GPU.

AMD 7900X
NVIDIA 3070 w/ 570.124.04 Open Source Drivers
64GB DDR4 3600
Linux Mint 22.1 (Ubuntu 24.04)

now it is not crashing but also not starting but i have the option to stop............

Haven’t gotten to game yet, but got past the menu with the SteamDeck flag. As expected, it choose a SteamDeck preset for me that wanted to use FSR instead of DLSS and low instead of other settings. So had to fix those.

it is working without the force of a proton version :) Thank you. But graphics and performance are not as good as i expected. Nobara Linux 41, I7-13700k, rtx 4080.
