How is the relationship between Joel and Ellie in this game? No spoilers please.

I liked the first one, Joel was a great protagonist and I really enjoyed the development of his relationship with Ellie. Never got around to playing the second one, how does the relationship between Joel and Ellie hold up in this game?

i can let the troll slide and just say the flashbacks are good but also consequent. ofc that was after act 1 ended. which is a testiment to their relationship at this point. it's just a consequence of the past. it is what it is. yo
