I was looking forward to continuing the story after getting TLOU on steam but there was this whole PSN outrage thing where if you lived in a country that isn't supported by PSN then you couldn't play the game..

which is bizarre to me because It's as if Sony doesn't want to make money.

Did they go back on the requirement or are they making allowances somehow now?

Oh awesome, Yeah last time I looked on the store page it stated PSN was mandatory and I decided I'd wait to see if they backed down from that nonsensical requirement.

No PSN requirement but region lock is another matter. One does not equal the other. Two are neither dependent on one another nor are the two mutually exclusive. I know a lot of people who are getting region locked with some of Sony's games are worried with Stellar Blade possibly ending up the same way. Stellar Blade is not Sony's game but Sony is the publisher so they have control over global distribution of games published under the company's name. Having said so, I'm not seeing that many concerns with TLOU 2 in the forum for whatever the reason it could be.

* This all has to do with Sony's lack of business presence in those locked out countries , or it could be that the government in those countries won't let the publisher sell certain games in their country. The latest being Silent Hill F being locked out of Australia due to certain controversies surrounding the game's contents.

Region lock is automatically noticeable on Steam because you can't get the game to appear on store page.

There is no region lock on PC. Even If you cant buy game on steam in your region, there are easy workarounds.

I guarantee the "extra" stuff you get from making an account can just be modded in or by simply changing some kinda .ini file in the game directory.

100%. it's not really about sony, you just gotta wear the jacket for a screenshot and like it. make the devs happy. :) linking is just easier for sony to track interest. top floor office bs.
