Is the game any good?
So I played the first game and loved it (even bought a PS3 at the time just to play it). Waited 10 years for the PC version, played it. Never played part 2 because I don't have a console at this point. Is the game any good? It has a 93 on metacritic from critics but only a 5.8 from players.. I'm wondering if I'll be disappointed since I liked the first one so much but it did end on a cliffhanger that is still bothering me to this day

You'll enjoy it. It won 2020 GOTY for a reason and *is* a great game by those of us who actually care.

it's just that there's a lot of bigoted/toxic trolls out there who like to use what small amount of limited power they have in bringing something down simply because they don't like one aspect of the plot or were very anti-LGBTQ.

(Look at Episode 3 of the tv Series after all; one of the best pieces of television ever created and it was review bombed and downvoted for disgusting bigoted reasons)

You have to understand also that these are the same people who literally sent death threats to Laura Bailey *and* her infant baby at the time because they couldn't rationalize or differentiate a Voice Actor from a fictional character.... so yeah... they are pretty unhinged and are lacking in the critical thinking department to begin with..

I wouldn't put too much stock into the 'User Score' for this one with so many examples of them acting emotionally immature, and/or showing a lack of media literacy by not 'getting' or caring about the message by the end.

It's a depressing game that tells a great story. But most people hate it because of reasons i dont wanna spoil. But it's mostly just having women in the lead roles of this game. i still think lowkey a majority of gamers especially now with that weird gamergate 2.0 movement are incels

It's pretty great and engaging. The story was very controversial though.

It's an actual masterpiece. Pacing, story, gameplay, exploration, graphics, voice acting, dialogue. All top tier.

I have played through TLOU 13 times, and Part II only 3 times, but in many aspects (gameplay especially) consider Part II to be better than the first one. Ultimately though I like both of them equally and consider them as one game in my top #10 games of all time, where I rank them both #1.

1. The Last of Us (Part I + Part II) - 🧟‍♂️🔫🌿🎸
2. Metal Gear Solid - 🐍☢️🎮📦
3. Bloodborne - 🩸🐺🗡️🔥
4. Red Dead Redemption 2 - 🤠🐴🔫🏞️
5. Mass Effect 2 - 🚀👽🌌💔
6. Final Fantasy 7 - ⚔️🌎💥🎶
7. Resident Evil 2 - 🧟‍♂️👮‍♂️🏫💉
8. Shadow of the Colossus - 🏔️🗡️🐴🏞️
9. Dark Souls - 💀🗡️🔥🛡️
10. Baldur's Gate 3 - 🧙‍♂️🐉🏰🎲

I love playing Buzzword Bingo.
The problem with post-apocalyptic games is that they will ALWAYS leave on a cliffhanger. There is really no way around it. Now does this game leave a cliffhanger as gut wrenching as part I? I don't think so. I think they left it the only way a post-apocalyptic story of a singular particular character can that doesn't make the player hate life. Now don't get me wrong, they definitely left it open to create another chapter. That's the beauty of these story-lines; though it starts with one character that we follow, the overall plot can continue and go on across many parts and characters.

Bottom line though to answer your question definitively. This game is great! You should play it. There are some new mechanics incorporated with the old mechanics. They follow the story-line pretty well. Some awesome graphic and brutal scenes along with their token beauty of landscapes.

As far as story content, they do go a little further with the LGBTQ as well as buffing up characters. HOWEVER... it doesn't take away from the overall gameplay, furthermore it is incorporated in a way that is realistic and plausible with each character's backstory. LGBTQ incorporated in stories does not bother me. Over-saturation does. Over saturation of anything gets overbearing. Much like hearing the same song on the radio every 10 minutes. Gets annoying.
So far it is not dripping, and they have done well to balance as best they can. but would like to see more traditional story lines incorporated as well. So that alienation doesn't happen to non members of the LGBTQ community.

Did the game leave me with more to be desired... always. but that is the nature of developing games and telling a story, you can't please everyone and cover every last detail to give everyone everything that they want or think should happen.
The game is still fantastically great and beautiful! It gives me hope for naughty dog to continue with a solid Part III.

FR. Also considering that PC-users that were like "omg it didn't come out on pc so I'll review bomb it" - ahh "players" that walked through the game on YouTube and wanted to like change somebody opinions on it and when they didn't succeed they are raging basically cuz in a whole world there is some adequate people that don't care abt your stupid a$$ $hit

I like your view on story. There are really some fragments on LGBTQ+ that perhaps are telling you why. And it great.

Every unadequate man would tell "its dei woke" - no it isn't.

What really makes me laugh is that how much attention they pay not to the story whatsoever but to LGBTQ+ in that story just to lower the game scores.

What is also disappointing is that those "critics" don't have the game and aren't even playing it just because "it's DEI woke" over and over again. You can basiclly skip everyone who's here commenting something because he doesn't even own the game. It's appearance on Steam gives those homeless DEI woke critics ruin the overall thought about the game.
