Boss and invasions are on different planets, the first boss is the level 5 planet north of the starting one, invasions are near the black hole next to the sun.

Boss Jax are in second planet you can use you items.The boss are very hard for me.

Boss is easier if you use explosive weapons as they damage the bots.

but you need to kill arround 20 elites to get 10 cores, so 160 to upg everything, that means a freaking amount of emitters, so use bounty hunter on marauders (lvl1), at best lvl 2 and both there

Think you got the drops wrong, 1 boss = 1 core and level 10 equipment requires 10 cores so per upgrade you want to get to level 10 you need 10 bosses = 100 emitters. But yeah in the end you still need a ton of those emitters because you got 8 equipment slots and most have even more options.
