Feedback from a darkest dungeon x fire emblem fan

I'm loving the game as a whole due to it being basically darkest dungeon 2 x fire emblem.

Since the base of the game is a roguelike, most of my feedback will be based around that:

1) Variability adds to replay value
that means more characters, skills, maps, and enemies are all essential updates. being able to mix and match all of those adds keeps it from being super repetitive and doing the same thing every run. i found myself moving across the same tiles in the same run with the same characters and using the same skills on many occasions

2) Ease into the run by having smaller maps and challenges near the beginning, and ramp up as the game progresses
this makes it so the game is not so sluggish at the start so the thought of going on a run is encouraged. by no means am I saying the difficulty should be lessened but the speed in which we progress near the beginning should be quicker yet still meaningful as you customise your team. I think this is the same problem DD2 has but they are able to mitigate it by having you customise your starting team which brings me to my next point...

3) Starting team should be way more custom and have more variance
as of now, the starting team and the few characters you unlock are cool, but it desperately needs more. if not more characters, than the build(s) they start with should be more apparently different. I get that they are cookie cutter near the start so you can 'grow' your characters, but they need some sort of starting base (paths in DD2)
