In my opinion, the portal world should be kind of a "bonus region", without so much risk of crash. It's very hard for me to get in the portal world, being at the region 7+, but it's very easy to smash into some "glitch" thing, suddenly appearing from nowhere, on the unfamiliar user-created level :/
Do you think that the "joyride" portal world is easy too?

This one is like the Apocalypse mode for me. You need to constantly move, just in order to survive. And it makes impossible (at least for me) to get the "Queen" achievement (Score 10 Million Points in 1 Run):
Large number of points → very high multiplier → lots of point pyramids → Portal Worlds?
Yeah that's why I totally avoided the portal worlds when I was going for that achievement. Does it pick random maps from the workshop or is there an actual pool of maps the game chooses from?
After you used a portal, they weren't availible anymore. So you had to plan on when to use it.
Then they added user worlds, and the portals were always there. People could get some really high scores depending on what user worlds were up that day.
I'm not sure how the game is right now, because I haven't plated in a while.
They really should have a "classic" mode with the original portal system and a "workshop" mode that implements multiple portals and user created worlds (and you can vote on them).
These would have separate leaderboards.
Different people seemed to enjoy both modes when they were added and I think they should have both. I've seen a few games that have workshop integrated to the point that you can rate levels and comment/rate them in-game. Race the Sun should try to get that going. It's a lot of fun.
Rest assured we're going to make some improvements so that portal worlds are more enjoyable to play. The idea has always been to make the portal world a surprise each day but I'm going to be focusing on how to make that surprise a better one.
If you come across a specific portal world that you feel doesn't belong in the mix, the best way to draw our attention to it is through our support forum. You can open up a new ticket here and we'll get back to you more quickly: http://flippfly.freshdesk.com/support/tickets/new
We are certainly going to test worlds better against some fresh guidelines before we enter worlds into the mix, but I suppose you mean to share those guidelines with the Workshop community, right? That would be great. Thank you for the idea!
Exactly! That way people can keep those guidelines in mind when designing their worlds.
noted. I'll see what I can put together. I think this is a great idea.
Totally agreed with you. Most of the user created maps are terribly broken, I fell in love with this game when it was only Void, a "bonus" place where safely get points.
