Basically adventure games are those where you have to interact with people and environment in order to progress and usually it is inventory-based, where you have to find objects and use them (eg. see a broken bridge and you have an axe, figure out that you have to use it on a pile of logs to create a plank and then use the plank on the bridge with some rope to secure it and cross it) or do other types of puzzles (dialogue puzzles, pure "arrange the tiles" etc puzzles). So because this one is story-driven and you have to do puzzles, I'd say it definitely isn't a pure HOG, however it isn't a traditional 'normal' adventure like I outlined in my post above. :)
I wasn't sure what sort of games you wanted when you said "this type", if you're referring to the adventure aspect or the puzzles, so that's why I suggested to check out the adventure genre, since you said you in the other thread you aren't/weren't a fan of HOGs. If you didn't enjoy the HOGs but liked the puzzles, try the first Dracula game (Dracula: Origin), which is also on Steam.
