I also like how the game is pretty generous (I hope this feature remains), while it takes a while to upgrade the entire ship you can get your hands on good parts fairly quickly and enjoy some space battles, with a capable crew you can be effective in battle from get go.
Also, in space battle if you are destroyed, the game is over. No extra lives, no continues. It's harsh for new players (like me), but gives every battle a sense of urgency and ship maintenance/upgrading is put on high priority. As it should be. The FPS portion is lacking , but it seems they want to make away missions more exploratory in nature rather than action packed, I'm cool with that. If I want an action packed FPS my Steam library is fully stocked with games specifically for that purpose. (there's like 13 in a dozen of these titles, really)
The game is rather shallow at this point, features are missing etc, but it has great potential. I really hope it doesn't go the route of so many Unity-based early access games where each release fixes one bug and introduces two more to the point where the game is unplayable. Ofcourse, that's a risk you take when opting in on early access or kickstarters and some of the most played games in my library are early access ones.
i can pretty much confirm that
You will learn everything you need to know.
I would distinguish that Pulsar is far more roleplay-oriented than Guns of Icarus Online, which is more PvP oriented. I still think that first-person FTL is a better comparison, or an open-world Artemis rendered in an FPS game engine.
But when Guns of Icarus Adventure Mode comes out . . . oooh, I hope it's like Pulsar!
I should be mentioned tho that captains can save the game. And any good captain does all the time.
