ship customization would be amazing. some of the ships i like what they have but i despise the layout of the ship to the point i want to use a different ship
You could probably import 3D models from Sketchup as new ship designs, but IDK if collisions have to be remade or not. Long story short: it's easy to do, but time consuming. So, since the playerbase is quite low r/n (compared to heavily active modding communities), I doubt that we'll see any good mods made for it for a while.
Oh, one last thing: while the devs are generally ok with it, modding a multiplayer game (with new gameplay or content like new maps, new scripts) can be seen as hack by some players, so be sure to label your lobbies as modded if you want to play with mods!
