Sensor dish?

anyone know how the sensor dish works to pick up research or give XP? we've found stuff but haven't figured out how to work it

Right click picks up scrap. Maybe xp and research too? Never found any of that on my two runs as scientist since the update. So just speculating.

You fire research probes with the left mouse button. Fire them on glowing things on the surface of asteroids that are floating around in almost every sector. Sometimes the pilot needs to maneuver around the asteroid or even inside of it to see them. Just randomly launch probes at asteroids if you cannot see anything, sometimes it picks research material up.

If its a solid asteriod there usually isn't anything there unless you see a sparkly spot. Usually its when there are crystals. Keep shooting at each crystal bundle and eventually you should find the right one and it will give 1xp and 1 of the research items.

What does this "Sparkly Spot" look like? Is it always the same color?
