and like star trek: bridge crew does ... physical damage ... cables hanging down ... sparks ... loose pannels
I think not THE but a (different) which runs out completly after a while and let you be stuck in complete darkness ... I really mean pitch black. (while the emergency light should give you some visibility ... but not that much)
@light: even today its not a hughe part in nergy consumption and it shouldn't play a big deal in ship settings. I'd rather have more mission types where it might play a role / it might be used to create a special ambience. Sitting in pure dark: no thanks. It adds nothing to the game nor did it create a special ambience since your room light is still on^^ And if y a ship has a blackout you would have to use night vision to see smth. That at least would make sense but pls not all the time. Its a space game some nice visuals would be great instad of just black! Which would be nice for scifi fans and thoise who already have problems seeing certain things on screen because of bad eyes.
Dah ... I wouldn't play with anyone who doesn't use headphones.
Well, currently the lighting is all wrong anyway ...
It is "moody" all the time ...
In space: ... except when uncomfortable close to a star ... it should be way darker
In ship: When lights are turned on, it should be really bright. When turned off pitch black ... except there is a window where the sun can shine in ... IF the sun shines in.
Also lighting from external sources should be abled to be limited ... like shades or blast doors (you actually don't want to be cooked by a sun).
And don't underestimate the power needed for large ships ... I think even the smaller ones ... assuming LEDs ... would need at least 250W power (but more like 500W) ... if all turned on.
On the bigger ones it could more than tripple that ...
... which doesn't sound much compaired to the total consumption ... but again could if starve for that little extra power to power your guns.
Edit: I ususally don't see my room lights ... I (want to) play in VR
Edit: Also the pitch blackness would change the game mechanic ...
